*I'm deaf in my right ear which is why I'm not wearing headphones. I know, it's a bummer not to get the panning sounds. It's also been a bummer to only have one ear my whole life for lots of other reasons, like, playing telephone growing up, I was terrible at it. But, I'll be ok, and I'm getting both channels in the earbud, thanks for your concern :)

The most interesting thing about this album is the fact that each song refrences one of her fears, this song in particular talks about fear of self and fear of being judged

Her performance of this and Telephone at the Brit Awards is one of her best. Performed as a tribute to Alexander McQueen, who designed many of her iconic looks, shortly after his death. Would love to see your reaction

Her opening monster ball with this song was absolutely iconic. I will never forget it!
@DarylMemetic
@DarylMemetic 4 жыл бұрын
This is the opener for the MONSTER BALL TOUR. One of the basic meanings is the ‘Fear of Self Monster’ where Gaga heard women’s stories about sex with the lights off (insecurities). The celebrity deaths bridge seems to reference the dark side of fame and the effects it had on each of them and their passing, but then trying to work through that to find the ‘light’ (never let you fall apart etc). It was a radio single in Australia and France.

I think that song is about men who makes women feel bad about themselves or men who make women shrink themselves because thats the only way they can be loved. Sylvia I think is referring to the writer Sylvia Plath, she committed suicide and had depression.

Fear of Self Monster. Great song about being insecure by using metaphors about dancing in the dark that's a metaphor for having sex in the dark bc the girl is insecure about what the guy is gonna think of her. And tops it off with the deaths of famous blondes and Gaga once thought she would join them

She's alluding to the sense that she's in a relationship with the fame (media/paparazzi). Media and people will pick at all her flaws and make her feel weak. People will mock and make her feel insecure about everything.

"The record is about a girl who likes to have sex with the lights off, because she's embarrassed about her body. She doesn't want her man to see her naked. She will be free, and she will let her inner animal out, but only when the lights are out. She doesn't feel free without the moon. These lyrics are a way for me to talk about how I believe women and some men feel innately insecure about themselves all the time. It's not sometimes, it's not in adolescence, it's always. The song isn't called 'Dance in the Light.' I'm not a gospel singer trying to cross people over. What I'm saying is, 'I get it. I feel you, I feel the same way, and it's OK.' "

Ok so I decided to make this a separate comment but I think this song starts as a way to show how many women r shamed for how they look and try to please others instead of themselves. The next part the woman finally becomes a vamp/werewolf a “fame monster” if u will and then the guy calls her a tramp for doing something for herself. the women she mentions I think all at some point were forced to make certain decisions by men looming over them but they are famous for not following that norm and finding these male icons or at least gaga mentions them bc they also did not follow the norm for their gender/sex and time/era. So that’s how I see it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Dance in the dark is also related to sex, like when she sings "she still does her dance/she still kills the dance" it can be mean that her sex is good, he likes her sex even he's saying that she' a mess, a tramp.
