Jake's dedication to his art is unmatched. Jake never praises himself and always gives credits to others but I want you all to know that This man chewed gums for weeks, ate kale salad every day, ran 15 miles continuously for Nightcrawler and for 6 months, he worked out 6 hours a day , 7 days a week, did 2000 sit-ups a day, push-ups, dips, flipped 350-pound tires and ran 8 miles 5 times a week for Southpaw. While training for End of Watch, he spent 12 hours a day riding along with LAPD officers. He watched about 100 interrogation videos for his one of scenes in prisoners. Those face ticking and all were his ideas. For Sisters Brothers movie, Jake did research and consulted a linguist in order to transcribe all his dialogues into phonetics.

It's a seemingly small thing but I love that Gaga always thanks him for the compliments. She very clearly says "thank you", because she's smart enough to recognize that false modesty is not helpful. That recognition of kindness matters, and she's accepting of his positive words. That speaks to a very well established and honest persona, false people will often go "oh stop!" or "you're better!" or whatever. She's grounded enough to accept it and thank him, clearly and without breaking eye contact.

Ever since Joanne (and maybe even since ARTPOP or Cheek to Cheek), Gaga has been becoming more and more conscious about herself, the expectations she and we all had put on herself. She was like “I’m just tired of people defining who Gaga is” and went for a simple look with Joanne. And her music became more introspective. She’s always defining herself and what she does and why she does it. And you can really see all of that in this interview. So, I don’t really care what she does, if it is music, movies, make up… she deserves to feel safe and sound. Because she is so talented, so kind!
