I live in a humid mostly warm place, so the roach problem is almost universal here. But for several years we have had a healthy population of lizards in my house and the roaches are now very hard to even spot a single one, they are a blessing. It is even funny how they make kissing sounds at night, they throw us smooches. One day I accidentally stepped on a little one, I still feel sorrow for that, it was a very sad day.

My old cat Merlin, ran out of the house one day, a pigeon saw him, freaked out, hit his head on the wooden fence and died instantly! I was traumatised and devastated. River, a friend and I said a prayer over the phone for Peter pigeon. I lit a candle for him. Then wrapped him in a silk scarf, before putting him in the bin. I only had gravel and a mesh net in my garden or I'd have given him a proper burial. Upset me for ages. So I hear ya! x

Omg, the same thing happened to me :*( There was a taluto that hatched in my bathroom, and it thought it was its home, so every time i showered it would come and say hi (and then disappear); one evening i accidentially stepped on it, and when i realized it, i was in shock, and lifted the little creature up, and i saw it was still breathing but with great difficulty, so I panicked and flushed it out the toilet...Aargh, i still have traumas over this, and feel so sad.

Lizards are sure a wonderful way to keep your roach problem under control. I have a small toad population that I try to keep safe, they help too. During mosquito season, I also get dragonflies that kill the mosquitos and flies. So grateful for all these natural helpers. 🌝

When I still lived in south Florida I somehow became the emergency room for the curly tail and anoles... it really is strange how smart these guys are. It started one winter when we had an unseasonably cold day. I found several frozen stiff on the front walk of our condo. I was afraid they would get stepped on so I brought them in and placed them in a terrarium with a heat light. I fed them and kept them until the cold spell left 2 or 3 days... I then took them to the Florida room and let them go they started coming back to hang out when I was there then one day there was an anole who had been stung in the mouth by some sort of wasp I think. I found him on my door mat where I found the frozen guys. He took over a week to heal. The sting did a number on his nervous system, he couldn't walk and would go into convolution, it was so sad, he was so tiny. I pulled the stinger from his mouth with tweezers and because he couldn't eat I syringe fed him crushed meal worms slowly in the throat because his tongue was so swollen he couldn't close his mouth much less swallow. The terrarium became the wild lizard E.R. I ended up keeping it the Florida room and eventually I would find injured lizards in my Florida room asking for help or on my front mat. So smart that they told each other where they had been, and where to go if you get hurt. i hated moving back to TN, and often wondered what the next owner thought of all the lizardos. I certainly hope they too have the little guys a safe harbor.

I wouldn’t say that. More like, they’ve got a way with animals. “Connections,” to nature are very “culty”/pagan in nature, which both are dangerous. It’s like saying I’m one with nature, when, well, that’s not what any of us were made for. God made us to not glorify and be one with nature, but instead, to glorify, honor, and be united with Him.
@FadedforFreedom
@FadedforFreedom 2 жыл бұрын
@@HybrTd5383 ...Don't put cult and pagan together, friend. They are not the same. If you've done any research on Paganism without the bias certain medias pose, you'd understand it's a very personal practice, and that there are many ways people participate in Spirituality as a whole. Don't knock someone else's spiritual path, especially when it appears that the extent of what you know ABOUT said path is that which is taught to Christians(where I'm from, at least) to scare the daylights outta people and to make anyone who isn't a Christian out to be a baddie in some regard. As a side note, That's not very.. Faithful or fair to say that you know for certain what God's plan for each person is, is it? As they say, the Lord works in mysterious ways, so our knowing is nothing to that, right? It's true in the Bible that God is omnipresent and a part of everything, that EVERYTHING is a gift from Him. So even nature should be loved as a part of his domain, not forgotten because you claim it isn't in some way a means of glorifying Him. (As a response to you saying we are not to glorify nature, but to glorify god.) --another Dodo animal lover, who has a passion for all sorts of religions and spiritual paths. @@dynomike9997 Even herbivores sometimes eat meat or other animal parts. They do it to supplement their diet with certain nutrients that'd be hard to get with plants alone. Tortoises sometimes will eat the bones of carcasses to obtain an important substance needed to keep their shell healthy and strong. But this is still just a supplement and herbivores still will eat plant matter most of the time.

That's pretty cool, I can dig it. I like feeding animals, I feed the birds that live in the awning behind the apartments I live in, and the chipmunks and the squirrels. It nice to sit and watch them all eat side by side with no problems. That's probably only because I put plenty out for them.

If there's one thing the history of evolution has taught us, it's that life will not be contained. Life breaks free, it expands to new territories, and crashes through barriers painfully, maybe even dangerously, but, uh, well, there it is. *Though, sometimes it waits patiently at the front door.*

They're so lovely (as is the family that feeds them). I grew up on a farm on the Canadian prairies and used to rescue salamanders that would get trapped in the cellar of our old farmhouse. I used to cry when the box I'd have them in on the front porch would get knocked over and my 'pets' would escape. Took me a long time to figure out it was my Mother (who was creeped out by them) upsetting the box! 🦎

There seems to be different vibe with critters in Hawaii too. I lived in Waikiki for four and a half years, and saw some very tame animals. Including geckos that would get in bed with me to stay warm at night, and a stick fish that just stopped in the water and looked straight up at me while I was standing in the ocean. It just looked and looked at me. I was overwhelmed with cuteness.

Not sure which is more impressive, the fact that they trust her enough to continually rely on her for food......or the fact that lizards congregate and have friends to bring over and socialize. Like "hey guys follow me. I want to introduce you to this giant that feeds me everyday." 🤣 I didn't know lizards were social. You rarely see more than 1 or 2 in an area.
