Except she comes from an upperclass family, went to the finest schools and had some of the best connections. If she was anyone else she would have gone no where. Period. Granted I love her and what she shines on the world but she got to where she is by privilege, luck, talent, and at a much lesser extent artistic drive. Much like Andy Warhol.

My dear Gaga , back in 2012 I was being rushed to the hospital while having a massive panic attack . I was a 14 year old girl . I had cut my chest all over , I wasn’t myself . I couldn’t think , i couldn’t speak , I couldn’t breathe . I was out of it . My dad was driving me to the hospital and as I sat there in the backseat ,contemplating how my life was ultimately gonna end , this song came on the radio . Marry the Night . Even if I couldn’t think , breathe or reason , your words spoke to me . I was gonna marry the night , that night . I was gonna embrace who I was , my pain , my darkness and I was gonna come out , on the other side . A winner. Alive . Holding hands with it . Thank you because yes , your art saves people . My heart is with you .

Yash Jha One of my favorite quotes - "Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comforted." True art isn't something that's supposed to make you just look at it and pass on. It pushes the boundaries, challenges reality, makes you uncomfortable, makes you think. Art has always been this way; there's always going to be a little bit of rebellion and a message in every good work. I don't blame you for not understanding, some people never understand, but truly; good art is quite a sight to behold.

She was of a very unique time in western history (North American, European and Australian) Yes she was controversial but she was part of the social reawakening of the youth. People in their 20s and 30s are largely feminist, open minded and have begun to do away with racism and homophobia in the west etc. Gaga was part of that. The early 2010s were transformative and led to the huge social movements like marriage equality, abortion rights, women's equality, metoo and climate action. Women and men that stepped out of the ordinary at this time helped create a confident, Liberal and outspoken young people. If we got her today it would have been too late. She was era defining and her new album can't come quick enough

Burqa Goulding Girl, it's not an album. It's an experience. You have to watch the film to fully appreciate it. She's depicting how she was lost and in denial of the fact that she was, but she somehow manage to come home and heal. It's a story of resilience, generational grief, and forgiveness. It's a tale that often goes untold: how woman are mistreated and taken for granted, and it's normalized; how people find hidden passages in order to overcome things others couldn't endure, all of the sake of love.

Lady Gaga didn't say whether she had an abortion or suffered a miscarriage. I can pretty easily imagine how either would only add to her trauma. In any case, we shouldn't speculate or assume one way or another. Whatever happened, it's a particularly vulnerable topic she's not ready to discuss openly. That's fine. Privacy is a right. I just hope that one day she feels how powerful she actually is especially with the support of all her little monsters. I pray for the day she can name the criminal.

@venswim First of all, by telling boys how to be good people who respect women as equals and setting good examples for them. The first line of defense against rape culture is how we raise our boys. As for consequences, it's entirely possible to require a rapist to pay restitution for all the physical and emotional damage he's caused. And if his victim has a baby as a result, he should be required to cover all her medical expenses plus child support... and not be allowed any contact.

How come nobody talks about that she is in the hospital because she was sexually assaulted (like in real life): @2:53 "No Intimacy for 2 weeks" and @3;34 "I have nothing left to lose". Gaga screams her pain through her music and we're standing there in adoration (or judging her looks) while the woman is incredibly hurt and suffering. i remember staying up late at night so nobody would hear me cry, and i would have this song and video on repeat. there were very few things that would pull me out of my depression just for a moment. this was one of them. i find myself going through that again almost eight years later, and i’m so grateful i have this to fall back on. for anyone reading through the comments to find hope, i want you to know that it is there where you least expect it, and i want you to know you are loved and you are so strong. you deserve to be here. you deserve to live your own life on your own terms. you deserve to feel brave, and you’re brave for allowing yourself to feel vulnerable. in that way, she speaks to all of us. she was ahead of her time and may very well still be, but that’s okay, because we’ve had her for so long and we’ll have her for years to come. i hope you’re doing well, and i hope you find strength whether it be through this song or through something else

Idk if it’s because I’m older, but now I get every single detail and scene in full. I can’t watch it without being emotional. It’s her journey of how her career came to be: from her darkest moments, the trauma of the assault + abortion and the rejection of the label, she became this force that with passion, hard work and kindness made her the Lady Gaga we all know. In the end she finally gets noticed by Interscope and becomes the Lady of the Night she had always dreamed of. She rose from her ashes like a phoenix.

This is just spooky. I did not know about the interview. I was just randomly scrolling youtube, and suddenly, out of the blue, I remebered that somebody told me months ago I should watch "Marry the night". It was right after 911, I think. I don't know why I suddenly remebered this. So, I searched for this and watched it. I thought straight away that the starting scene was from abortion clinic. The blood, the trauma, all the other girls, the "no intimacy for two weeks". So, I assumed she had an abortion in real life. I also remembered her performance "'til it happens to you" at Oscars and assumed she got raped. Came to comments to see if that was the case. I was confused why people talk about this like this is a new thing. I honestly thought this was something that was out in the open or at least acknowledged, since this movie is from TEN YEARS AGO. I googled and found out she had just TODAY revealed this from her past in an interview. I got chills. I got sick. I cried a bit. This video is incredible.

I used to skip the intro when i was a kid and went straight to music part, but now that I'm older the intro just hits really hard.

She helped me get through the toughest times of my life. I also suffer with fibromyalgia and her sharing her struggles with the illness were so relatable. I knew I wasn’t imagining or causing my symptoms. Sometimes your nervous system fires up like you were electrocuted and everything hurts terribly. You’re tired and hurting but you look fine. To the world you’re just lazy and unmotivated. You get very little to no sympathy, even from your doctors. It feels very lonely. It was a relief to see that I wasn’t alone in this battle.

I see you. This song was the one that changed my life when things were mentally and physically hard to live through and chronic pain started to wreck havoc on all aspects of me. I am so happy to know Lady Gaga has lifted you up too 🖤 Marry the night.
