One trick we do a lot on 4 stroke motorcycles is this. Elongate the mounting holes on the magneto ever so slightly in the direction you want to go. I was looking at my PK-80 mag and there is room to do this. Now, ignition timing on a 2 stroke is critical. Too much and you're into pre-ignition and melting pistons. It makes sense that retarding the timing gives you some lower RPM grunt. If anything re-gear for the RPM range.

The best way to alter your timing is to make an offset key. You buy a rectangular key and file the key into a z shape. That way the magnet can’t shift on you . The motor sounds very happy with this timing change .

@LAHover4 жыл бұрын
To help the clutch engage better, take off the right side cover, remove the set screw, and tighten the flower nut 1-2 notches, than replace the set screw and the cover. The lock up is usually caused by having to much slack in your chain. Join the discord link in the description if you need more help.

@garygrey85737 ай бұрын
You can get the same effect by just oblonging the holes in the magneto coil housing. Take a drill bit that is slightly smaller than the original hole and route out areas for the four bolts that hold them in to slide either forward or backwards depending on if you want to advance your timing or retard it. Take special care to use washers to cover the holes but not too obstruct the movement of the magnet. You can take the four bolts and stick them through cardboard to gauge how much movement you got. It's much easier and much safer than doing a woodruff key.
