One thing to know about the bet. Fengxian always won at Go, while Lakan beat her at Chess. So when she gave Lakan the choice of games, she basically gave him the choice of who would win the bet. Lakan chose Go so that Fengxian would win.

The thing is he didn't realize she got pregnant , then his going abroad time , which he thought would be six months became three years( this is because he had been sent to war ,I think .It is mentioned in the light novel)He still doesn't know whether she is alive or not because the verdigris house grandma told him that she is gone, otherwise he would have taken care of her and bought her out.He could not get any of her letters as well.and sadly he did not understand love back then when he left.He understood it after coming back which is a direct result of his eye condition and his childhood.He is not a good communicator, thats fir sure . But anyways great reaction ad always Paws . waiting for the next episode now !!😊

I don't know why they changed it to studying abroad vs war honestly, it made the entire thing seem less, since studying abroad usually gives you time off on holidays and in general, it's less strict 💀

@@Pawsanime The war thing is so much easier to understand given how much they build his GO/Chess pieces on. But honestly this one seems kinda just "yeah because Uncle" Like in heritages "If you go this way, I will send you to this way" kinda trope.

The finger removal was symbolic. It's to do with the red string of fate. It was believed that you and your faceted partner were connected by a red string tied to the little finger of each person. By roving her little finger and her daughters is a message to say they won't be hurt by love again because they will never experience it. Momo has a little finger because, due to her young age, it grew back, albeit crooked.

The thing seems to be that Lakan didn't realize that Fengshian was trying to get pregnant, so that her price would go down to almost nothing, so he could buy her out. Combine that with his absence going from 6 months to 3 years, his lack of urgency in buying her out, and her contracting syphilis, and one can get how she got to where she'd curse Lakan by maiming herself and their daughter.

I find it kinda weird in the anime they showed maomao adding some sort of liquid in to the drinks but in the manga she added powder. Basically the powder is a mixture of sugar and salt. Maomao's explanation on why she added those is to have the alcohol be absorbed by the body faster.

Another tragic character was Meimei who was Fengxian maid/little sister, who knew everything. Meimei cherished her big sister and her little sister, Maomao.

Prosopagnosia is its own neurodivergance, it might not be Autism Spectrum but there might be a link, more research is required. Sorry if that sounded aggressive, I just wanted to add to that. but yeah it's good he had his uncle... his father was a freaking jerk.

@@jacksparrowismydaddy As an asperger myself I am glad you pointed this because I was talking about the behavior and not the clinical condition but looking back on how I worded it may be interpreted in that way... english is my 3rd or 4th language so sometimes is not correct enough ^^

it's called Prosopagnosia (Face Blindness). you can't see faces and could struggle to read faces or social cues. it could be brought on by brain trauma or in Lakan's case, birth.

I grant Maomao can be a bit ambiguous regarding her feeling to Lakan. She certainly wants to avoid him. Her deep feelings are for her adopted Dad, the old hag, and her three big sisters Meimei, Pairin, and Joka. Although we must wait to learn more about Joka. Meimei and Pairin are seen as mother figures. Note Maomao is a very big fan of sake. Maybe even more poison. Well maybe.

I am just glad that people who saw this episode realize Lakan was not some creepy dude but he was watching his daughter be crazy smart., .... to a fault. lol But it annoyed me that everyone hated on him so easily.

Most make the assumption, that he sees people the way he does, because he wants to, but it's quite literally the only way he can tell people apart. Personally, I think him being able to tell Fengxian and MaoMao apart and even see their faces, has to do with genuine love, but Because of his family life, he had a very poor concept of what love is... Untill he seemingly lost it, then it was crystal clear 😢

One thing that is different and I honestly don't know why, is that he wasn't sent off to study abroad in the manga, but went of to way and it was that which ended up taking 3 years.

Delicious in Dungeon, Spice and Wolf, Undead Unluck, Ninja Kamui and Jujutsu Kaisen are the ones I was planning to watch. Then there's slime and konosuba s3 also. Not sure yet on the new stuff, will give them a few episodes and pick some that look cool after How about yourself? Anything that caught your eye?

@@Pawsanime from this list personally I like Delicious in Dungeon, this show is a slow build, fun, with big mystery. The detail on a dungeon ecosystem, different race interaction, if you have a question in episode 1 it will make sense in like episode 5 or 10 later, but then you'll have more questions. as for the other.. the hype train is gone I guess, JJK, Undead Unluck, Ninja Kamui are action packed series. I recommend JJK and Undead Unluck as for Ninja Kamui not really for me, but maybe you will like it. Konosuba S3 and Slime definitely fun to watch, its also new series as well so you can catch up with everyone. as for spice and wolf I don't know much about this one I heard its pretty good, classic introduction to anime to a lot of people. maybe someday I'll watch it. anyway can't wait for another banger reaction :D

Loumen is Lakan’s Uncle and Maomao’s grand uncle. This connection explains Loumen special feeling for Maomao. His big “sins” are misreading Fengxian’s letter about her pregnancy and ignoring Fengxian for 1000 days never writing her. These failures are core to his guilt and Fengxian downfall and confused feelings to her lover and daughter. There was no conscious evil just pride, arrogance, and foolishly taking his time to check on Fengxian.

Maomao mentioned that losing her virginity halves the price, pregnancy reduces it to zero, so I'd assume either option worked, with the second one being the best for Lakan to buy her out :
