I should never read the comments, sigh....... anyway, the kraut is not for public consumption, it's made for their own family's use. How they make it is up to them and their traditions. I personally don't make sauerkraut by the stomping method, I use an easier method, but I do know people who still let their kids stomp it with their feet :)

I want to know more about the rosehip mousse. How do they cook it? Is it baked, fried or other?
@MrsLeftoverStew4 жыл бұрын
I make it every year - I'm Slovenian and it's a tradition here too. I'm not sure why they're calling it a mousse, it's really a jam. I use fresh rosehips, cook them down to a mush, and then press through a sieve to remove all the hairs and seeds. Then I add sugar and cook it down on the stovetop until it has a thick consistency. It goes in sterilized jars and easily keeps for a few years in the fridge. It's very time consuming and a lot of work but it's hands down the best jam I've ever had. Too bad more people don't know about it.

@@magdalenamakkar4144 Don't be a loudspeaker for the sugar industry. The "calories in, calories out" theorem has been refuted several times. Dödölle contains large amount of carbohydrates (flour) and fat, which together are extremely fattening, as well as triggering endorphin-like reaction in the brain, so it is very easy to overeat.

I wasnt gonna comment on the unsanitary cooking when I thought the foot stomping sauerkraut was for her own family's use but then she shared it with strangers 🤮. Our feet are way less clean than hands even after scrubbing them which is why we have more fungal related foot problems than hands. I'm sure his sweat and bacteria added that special musky something 😂.

Have you ever made sauerkraut? Let alone that amount? It takes A LOT of strength to get the cabbage massaged with the salt to a point where enough moisture has come out so that it will eventually be covered in brine, keeping the kraut safe from mold and whatnot. I'm not even kidding when I say it's akin to whisking 30 egg whites into meringue by hand and then kneading 2lbs of bread dough to elastic perfection right after.

So your significant other is not the most important thing in your life? What would be? I suppose kids could be, but both are different elements of family. Just another way of saying family first. I don't see a problem with making your significant other the most important thing, I imagine it would make for quite a solid family unit
