We did this hike in July. The views on the way down, overlooking the lake were spectacular

Yes, indeed, one of the best views anywhere. We loved this place and hope to get back this May again. Regards, Ashley

Great videos and hoping you will do some more in 2022 hopefully more walks in the lake district and maybe Irish lakes around killarney. Dont stop.

Thanks, David, we've already booked to return to the Lake District in May22. We have been to Killarney a few times too and I have the Kerry peaks on my radar when the time is right. Regards, Ashley

Wow, you both made Catbells look easy.......although I like walking I have a fear of heights and arthritis in my knees. We tried to do Catbells for my 60th a few years ago, took me 1/2 hr to pluck up courage to get up the first lot of scramble rocks!! Eventually got to the flat part, the rain started, it got foggy and we realised I would never make it climbing up to the summit and over in time for the last ferry.....pity but got to realise when I am beat. Love your videos and have found some where I know I would be okay walking.........love the Lake District.

Pauline, thank you for watching and well done on trying. We are far from experienced but we've learnt that what some people say is easy is really far from that. I try to tell our walking story in the videos and we try above all to enjoy all the walks. Andrea will be chuffed with your comments!! The beauty of the Lakes is that there is a walk for everyone and some of our favorites are the low level ones. We are going back again in May so there will be a few more videos then!! Regards, Ashley

Nice film, I enjoyed that. On a minor point I would have to say that the actual summit of Maiden Moor is about 300m west of the main path but it doesn't really matter unless you are ticking off the "Wainwrights". It's all about getting out there :)

Andy, I'm sure you are right. We did look for the peak but I don't remember if we found it! We really enjoyed the whole walk, our toughest in the Lake District at that point, and we are returning in 3 weeks time for another 2 weeks of exploration. Staying in the Keswick area this time so hoping to do some of the big ones nearby. Any tips? Regards, Ashley

Hi Ashley, from watching your film it looks as if you stuck to the main path that crosses MM, the "summit" is found by going over to the west side of the moor and is marked by a small cairn- "peak" would be an exaggeration lol. If you are staying in Keswick I can recommend the Coledale round (Causey Pike round to Grisedale Pike) a long day but rewarding. If you are in the area whilst the Keswick Mountain Festival is on (16-19th) do call in and say Hi, I will be there giving a talk there. Regards, Andy

@@AndyBeckTeesdale Thanks for the recommendation, it's in the Trail Magazine this month too so I had been considering it. So I think it's now one we will have to do. We will be in Keswick during the festival and hope to visit the stalls and events on the saturday. When are you speaking? Thx Ashley

Hi Ashely, I will be there all weekend on a stall but my talk is at 12noon on the Sunday. It is free fro those who have a ticket to the festival. See you there!

@@AndyBeckTeesdale Andy, probably will be spending saturday in Keswick. I plan to do the parkrun at 9am and then explore the town, markets and the festival.

What shame the rain had to spoil a fantastic walk. I have set off to do this several times but always ended up stopping at Cat Bells due to changeable or too hot weather. Still, a very enjoyable watch, cheers Alan

Alan, this was the day we discovered we needed proper maps! After High Spy we couldn't find a route going right down the valley but the map would have showed us clearly where it was! What sort of maps do you use or do you follow phone apps? It was a brilliant walk though, glad we did it. Regards, Ashley

Ashley Arnold - haha, I do what I always do and follow my nose lol. Must admit, I am like you and like a nice clear path to follow but I also do use an OS map as well, as a last resort.

We had an encounter that day with an irate experienced walker who ranted at us for not having a proper map so we went out and got one. However, with a good sense of direction and by following the shape of the hills we never really got lost. I would like to use a GPS phone app so may investigate that for next year.
