Interesting video. I have used both extensively I would rather use rotary anytime , much quicker in my opinion much better job. But each to their own what you get used to. Thanks Gerry.

I had always heard how quickly you can burn through the paint with a rotary. The RA would be a safer bet for me for sure. Thanks for sharing all the points they have. Have a great weekend

Great video Jerry! Last week I bought the Harbor Freight Hercules 8 Amp 6" Forced Rotation DA Polisher on a 20% off sale. Target project is a camper with lots of decals I need to make pretty for sale in the Spring. I've never run a DA polisher, and so didn't think about it being that much slower. Maybe the Forced Rotation will speed things up, much like a Bondo Hog, while still being gentle? It is a fairly new tool, but so far reviews are good! Thanks for doing a video showing the differences!

Interesting - let me know how you like that tool. Might have to pick one up and try it out. Thanks for the information - enjoy the weekend :)

👍🏻Great demonstration, I like to use the rotary buffer for the heavy cut and the rotation buffer for applying the wax

I used both. The rotary is faster but can scratch the cleat coat and burn it. I would use the orbital

Perfect timing on the topic. I need to remove orange peel on my first paint job and didnt know if my DA polisher would work well or not. Since I'm a novice probably best to stay with DA instead of rotary. What buffing and polish compound do you recommend?
@LakesideAutobody Жыл бұрын
Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Diamond Cut Compound 2.0 M8532 or 3M stuff of the same type. Something that cuts well. Anything name brand will work for the polish Mequiars or 3M. Thanks for watching Craig - enjoy the weekend :)

Thanks Gerry! How about the difference between rubbing and polishing compound. Opening day here in Indiana! Quack Quack!

Good luck gettin' a bird 🦢. Anything from 3M or Meguiars will work fine. Something that cuts fast for buffing and then some polish to help remove the wheel marks.

Good demo. I love my waffle pads on the random orbit. How did you manage to use not just one, but two buffers and not get white specks all over your black T-shirt?

How much does that rotory buffer weigh and what brand of pad were you using?
@LakesideAutobody2 ай бұрын
Rotary can't be more than a few pounds - it's pretty light actually. The pad was purchased on EBAY - www.ebay.com/itm/314100978402?_skw=2Pcs+Wool+Hook+%26+Loop+Grip+Buffing+Pad+for+Compound+Cutting+%26+Polishing+I6U3&itmmeta=01JDN2DZBJAVWK615JP6KR1BTK&hash=item4921e092e2%3Ag%3ATSEAAOSwG5Zi8I3T&itmprp=

Gerry, I used a rotary on my sons 09 VW. Black paint. I can still see swirls in the clear coat. Is this indicative of too abrasive a compound? What do you recommend?
@LakesideAutobody Жыл бұрын
Clean the pad real well or use a softer pad with a good polish or finer cut compound. After that a good quality wax can help "fill" those. Let me know how it goes for you :)

I just got my avhrit polisher yesterday. I haven't seen anyone else use it. What grit do you think it can correct? I know other factors matter just curious your thoughts. Thanks
@LakesideAutobody8 ай бұрын
Start with something like 2000 grit and see how it goes. If it buffs that out easily then move down to 1500. Rotary polishers are faster than random orbital so... not sure which one you got so let me know how it goes. Ask more questions if needed :)
@WVU3042 ай бұрын
I used it for a light correction with a one step. It came out great. Thank you for responding.
