Walt's scenes with his family often feel robotic and forced. They feel like a narrative obligation, like, well, the writers needed to do scenes of Walt with his family to make his motivation believable, but not because they had anything interesting to say about those characters.

It's good to see how much respect Hector has for his nephew here, and it makes sense. Lalo shares with him everything and he knows Lalo is a smart enough man to expose Fring by working small pieces of evidence before making bigger moves. The Cousins wouldn't do anything because they're hound dogs and know their place, and Tuco would've just proposed to kill Fring on the spot but it would lose their support with the Cartel.
@mulqueen20232 күн бұрын
Lalo treating Hector with respect was so interesting to me, and it just makes the Salamancas more interesting. We saw how Hector basically abused the twins into becoming who they were. But Lalo likely didn't need any persuasion. I'd have to imagine he was Hector's favourite. And it's small but Hector despite being a vile human being still being seen as an equal by his family is actually refreshing in terms of disabled people not being seen as just burdens. Hell his disability, only being able to really move his finger, ended up being what took down Gus. This show is so good.

while definitely stronghanded, that twins scene is a lesson a lot of brothers should learn.

It lowkey saved the scene that Hector could not speak here. Were he in a speaking state, then the crew would have to either have Mark Margolis try to speak Spanish, which ruins the scene; or to have Tony Dalton speak English despite playing a Mexican talking to his tio, which would also ruin the scene.

One thing I did not get from the plot of BCS: Why was Gus paying for Hector´s recovery from the stroke he had suffered? And why did Lalo not continue payments for Hector´s rehab when Gus finally aborted his treatment as he wanted to keep Hector in that crippled state? (I recall a scene where Gus is told by a nurse that Hector would make a full recovery if they´d keep up their work, but Gus is like, "nope, he´s fine like that".)
@abdurrehmannasir59633 күн бұрын
For Gus it's pretty straight forward. He wants his most hated Salamanca to live but be crippled and at his mercy so that he can keep tormenting him with his family's deaths. But for the other Salamancas not continuing Hector's rehab? Idk, I just have a couple of vague theories. One is that they lost their intellect with Lalo and Hector gone. The Twins and Tuco didn't have the brains to use their money or the pragmatism to help his rehab. Two, that the Salamancas lost alot of influence after the events of BCS and were too low on money and resources to continue with a full recovery. Three is that the Cartel didn't want Hector to fully recover lest he tries to go to war with them, like he almost did just before becoming crippled.
@t.v.rockwell45043 күн бұрын
Gus wanted to save Hector for last, it's why he saved his life. Now with Hector being mute and immobile, Gus can rub his wins over Hector while Hector can do nothing, especially after Lalo's death and Hector having no evidence give to the Don. The cartel seems him as crazy and to hateful of Gus to believe him. Second, maybe the Salamancas didn't know Hector could recover. Maybe Lalo, but he's dead, so I doubt the rest thought about it.
@DaRkLoRdZoRc3 күн бұрын
@@abdurrehmannasir5963 Probably somewhere between the second and third theories. Remember, Lalo has a lot of sway in the Salamanca family, but not the cartel proper. He's not a 'Don,' so his reach was limited - especially since he spent much of Season 5 in jail and all of Season 6 on one big stealth mission. Gus would learn Hector was getting treated and have confirmation (well, *more* confirmation) that Lalo was alive. Also, if memory serves, Lalo was only sent to New Mexico in the first place to take over for Hector after his stroke. Lalo's a smart guy, but he likely didn't know how serious Hector's condition was until the first time he visited his uncle. There's also no reason for him to assume Gus maliciously stopped Hector's treatment; if he did, surely that alone would've been enough to warrant the cartel declaring war on him. As far as Lalo probably knew, Hector was 'recovering' properly, albeit slowly due to being old and having had a stroke. Once Gus was exposed and dealt with, it'd not only free up Lalo to focus on his treatment; it'd also vindicate Hector and likely restore his status in the cartel, so they'd start putting more money into his recovery as well.
@Perebynis3 күн бұрын
@@abdurrehmannasir5963 Well, maybe! But BCS is set in a time before the downfall of the Salamanca family. At that time the Salamancas obviously were far from being bancrupt, as Lalo had his hacienda with servants and housemaids. So it´s either a major plothole here - or Lalo used Hector´s predicament to effectively become the head of the Salamanca clan? 🤔(Still does not explain why Gus paid for Hector´s rehab at first.)
