Telling a vocalist that his growls sound like a panther's is probably the greatest compliment you can give to a vocalist in the realm of extreme metal.

Believe it or not, Randy Blythe is probably top in the business as far as annunciation in his vocals. His words come out so clean and clear for it being screaming. You can hear every word unlike death metal or grindcore stuff where words are pushed into the sound. Blythe is an absolute animal.

I agree. One of the biggest things I liked about this channel was the thoughtful approach they took to analyzing the lyrics to the songs. It's such a huge part of what makes a song a song and it sucks when it gets overlooked, especially if the lyrics are extremely well done (as they almost always are with LoG).

Man the songs you've picked for LoG is pretty strange tbh! Laid to rest I understand. Redneck should've been your first experience, it's an LoG essential. Other songs that would probably suit you is Ruin, Hourglass, Something to die for, Walk With me in Hell and Blacken the Cursed Sun. If you want to hear a different sound then Grace and 512 would be good suggestions. But you're right that they have their pocket but it's because they own it. Unique sound and they're killing it!

I'm not coming down on LoG in particular, I'm talking in general, but what good is how good they are LIVE if you didn't like the studio version? unless you're lucky enough that you saw them open for someone else, if you heard it on a spotify or pandora mix you would skip it before the second verse. if you already bought and heard the studio version and didn't like it, you're not going to bother doubling down and buying tickets to see them play live. For instance, I hate St. Anger, the drum sound is horrible. But if I see Metallica play live the songs from that album sound better. But if St. Anger was their first album, I wouldn't even bother going to see them unless they were opening up for someone I really wanted to see - and even then, more than half the crowd is still outside tail-gating, the volume is lower so the main act sounds better, the house lights are still partially on so people can find their seats and they don't have their full stage and light show so the live experience is watered down.

The"baritone" or "low growl" in extreme metal is called a "guttural" and you can even use it as an adjective. On the opposite side, for the high pitched vocals, they are usually described as such. There are shrieks and fry techniques as well which seems to what Randy from LoG uses at least in the upper register.

BTW did you notice you can actually make out what Randy is growling.. You can follow it.. Its actually very rare and difficult to growl and scream and be understandable. It's Chris Adler on the drums.. Adler played on Megadeths Dystopia.. He left LoG in 2019 and Art took over.. He appeared on their latest album and 2 singles they've put out since that album.. Including the Megadeth cover of Wake Up Dead 2 days ago. LoGs biggest inspiration is Megadeth both Mark Adler and Chris Adlers favourite album is Peace Sells.

I love that you make sure to point out the parts you like. Also when you play certain songs or bands you don’t really mesh with, you make sure to give them credit for being able to play and that they have talent. I’ve always hated the vocals of RUSH but I will completely acknowledge the fact that they were extremely talented musicians. 🤘

I rarely comment but I wanted to say I respect the hell out of the two of you for this reaction. I watch other channels and either they only publish videos where they like the bands but it gets old when it seems a reaction channel likes every song they hear. I am a huge fan of LOG and can respect your opinion on this song, not everyone is going to like what I like and, I know this seems rare in today's society, I like hearing different opinions on things. Anyway thanks for the video.

Raised as I was on good old Classic Rock, I've never been able to get into this type of metal "singing," but the music! Holy Moly, this rocks. I just wish it was Chris Cornell or Dio on the vocals.

I used to not like it but slowly Randy became one of my favorite vocalists. The trick for me was finding songs of theirs or other bands that the music is just so good that you get past it, then it grows on you

We should stablish "a lot" in Job for a Cowboy's "Entombment of a machine" and then waterfall the rest of bands down from there. These guys Lamb of Gof are an endangered specie. just a 90s good old metal band to headbang, drink beer and smoke weed. I think they are more closer to Pantera than Meshuggah. Walk with me in hell is their best song to me. Seen them live and they can put a show!

Randy Blythe's singing is like an IPA. It is bitter the first few hundred times you get a taste, but once you acquire a taste, you can't get enough.

Coming from listening to bands like Metallica and Iron Maiden I couldn't get into Lamb of God at first, but Chris Adler, the drummer, I kept coming back and eventually I got use to Randy's vocals. Now I can't see anyone else doing the vocal parts. As powerful and hard hitting as the music is,I don't think a singer with "flowery" vocals would mesh with the brutality of the music. Eventually you'll get bored with the more "comercial" metal and start branching out. For me it's like riding a rollercoaster. You get that surge of adrenaline but after you keep riding the same rollercoaster you don't get that same adrenaline shot anymore so you start looking for the next thing. Walk with Me in Hell really sold me on LoG.

Good point on the growls, George. What you basically said is that he can pitch his screams. And you're correct, Randy is really good at it. The jungle cat analogy was great though.

This is the perfect reaction to not liking pure heavy metal. I can fully respect somebody that doesn't like heavy metal, as long as they have given it a fair shot. I'm a heavy metal fan to the core. But I can't stand somebody that doesn't give a certain genre of music a chance, and instantly say they don't like it. You guys have given HEAVY metal it's fair shot and you guys don't like the sound of it. 100% respect for actually coming out and being honest about it. Keep up the honest great reactions guys.

Lamb of God's "Black Label" needs a reaction. Vocals are completely unintelligible (like you can read along and you'll think it can't possibly be what you're hearing) which makes the music shine.

While I would love it if they reacted to that one, I feel like I'd be disappointed, because I don't think they'd like it as much as I'd hope they would. They'd probably appreciate some of the grooves, but I don't think they'd be able to get past the vocals, and the vocals really do dominate that song

Great reaction, guys! Please check out "No Place for Disgrace" by the band Flotsam and Jetsam! It's the title track from their 2nd album released in 1988, and it's about Japanese Samurai warriors. Jason Newsted formed this band before joining Metallica in 1986 after Cliff Burton (bassist) died in a bus accident. Flotsam and Jetsam are still going strong. They released their 14th album last June. Thanks!

@@kl8455 Flotsam has always been one of my favorite thrash bands ….. I’ve always thought they haven’t been recognized like they should have. Their first three albums are thrash royalty, Doomsday for the Deceiver is just as good of a debut album as what the big 4 put out as debuts. Even after those first 3 releases, ‘Cuatro’ and ‘Drift’ are excellent as well (even though they moved away from the thrash roots on those albums).

Harsh vocals are just as varied and interesting as "proper" singing in my opinion. Every vocalist has their own inflection and sound to their growls/screams which is fascinating. Sometimes it clicks with you, other times it doesnt, or takes a while
