I recently test rode a ZX-4RR and the new ZX-6R back to back. The ZX-4RR does have a blipper, so, naturally, I thought the ZX-6R would surely have a blipper as well... @jaffabaffa which one did you like better?
@jaffabaffa3 ай бұрын
@@brianzhu7119 I feel like the ZX-4RR has great potential to be an amazing bike, but is ultimately super restricted in stock form. In my personal opinion, the gearing is way to long, and the exhaust is stupid quite. The power was rather underwhelming for me, even for a 400. However, the ergonomics were surprisingly comfortable. Especially compared to the ZX-6R. The ZX-6R has plenty of power to have fun with, but felt very cramped to me. And I am not even a big dude (179 cm or 5'9"). Also, the lack of a blipper on the ZX-6R makes if feel outdated compared to the ZX-4RR. If I would have to put my own money down, I would choose either a ZX-4RR and upgrade it, or buy the previous generation ZX-6R.

@@jaffabaffa Where do you live? The EU model ZX4 is supposed to be unrestricted AFAIK . I ride a lot with two friends of mine, one has a MT09 SP and the other a Z900 RS. I don't really feel left behind when doing normal riding. Obviously i'd be lef for dead in a drag race, but again just going tempo moderato on small twisty roads the ZX4 doesn't leave me wanting.
@jaffabaffa3 ай бұрын
@@Larry_Mott The EU version of the ZX-4R(R) might be less restricted, but it's still subjected to the EU's emissions and sound regulations (euro 5+). I think that you're either a skilled rider, or that your friends are a bit slow (or not trying to be fast at least). I have not ridden an MT-09 before, but I have ridden a Z900 RS. I can't imagine a ZX-4R being able to keep up with a Z900 RS in any sort of race - both drag and twisties. A good way to gauge the degree to which a bike is restricted, is to compare the stock dyno numbers to one that as been fully "unlocked" with a full exhaust system and an ECU flash. A bone stock ZX-4R makes around 58.5 hp at the rear wheel. When properly unrestricted, it makes around 76 hp at the rear wheel.
@Larry_Mott3 ай бұрын
@@jaffabaffa 58,5 has to be a US model. Vcyclenut (his dyno seems to be somewhat conservative) claims 55,36 at the rear wheel.. After derestricting he got 68,53 which should correspond well to the EU version.

Good b2b review guys! It really comes down to personal preference. I test rode both on the same day and actually found the Honda to be more refined. The Kawasaki is raw, which was great though. It was a tough decision, but the bi-directional shifter on the Honda, plus the dealer offered me a cracking deal against my RS660, swung it. Why didn’t Kawasaki put a shifter/blipper on it??? Moving away from 1000cc sports bikes (that I have always had) to a middleweight I find these are soooo much better on the road. Great fun! You can’t really lose whichever one you go for.

I have the Honda and have just gave it a good break in around a track. You have to keep yourself pushed back in the seat to keep the bike properly balanced for corners otherwise it feels your sat too close to the front up against the tank. My899 just lets you hug the tank and you’re already perfectly centred for flinging a knee out. I hated the Honda when I first took it home and was massively disappointed but now after 1500 miles and 3 months of riding I can say it’s a weapon of a 600. The track day it performed incredibly and I only had the stock Dunlop roadsport 2 sports/touring tyres on.

It allows you to control so many aspects of the bike as well as it being super stable to ride on the road. At 6'5", I'm not really the target demographic for these bikes but it's been a blast and I didn't regret it yet by one bit. I could've gotten a Kawa but the price for what you're getting is not really worth it for me, compared to the Honda

My biking pals didn’t agree. No substitute for “ cubes”. Need to be in the right gear for every corner, at least 9k rpm but boy what a top end. Could keep up with litre bikes on a run no problem. Rarely ever passed them but they couldn’t get away. The new ZX6 is much lower geared than the CBR6 which makes it faster in most situations that you don’t need top speed. The Honda looks like excellent build quality. Difficult decision I would go for the ZX6 for more midrange and I do prefer throttle cables but that’s just me.

Great review, i commuted on a 06' VTR SP2 into London but gearing for traffic wasn't ideal if im honest with myself 😀 so i got a low mile 2002 CBR 600 F-Sport which i loved to bits but they bought in the congestion charge for pre 07' bikes ......so was fortunate to get one of the last of the last into the UK - CBR 600 RR'S in 2016 , still own it, love it to bits , was tempted by a new 2024 model but i love my Orange Repsol colours...as you say £10,500 , ( less that £500 more than my new bike n 2016), the Honda really is a great buy. i love mine i just cant bear to part with it for a new red or black one...

Congestion charge? Wth is that? Besides politicians finding more ways of taking more of the people’s money?

2 brilliant bikes and both good value as well. From 2000 to 2009 I owned 3 new supersport 600 but all GSXRs. If Suzuki join in and bring back the GSXR600 for the same money id buy another one. Im sure when you test the 1000cc sports bikes you'll say they're better but they cost twice as much!!😮

How do these compare to the 2017+ R6? Excellent review btw, love from the US

Zx6r is quicker due to gearing and a redesigned camshaft but the cbr will achieve much higher top speed. In stock form I can guarantee you since I own one the 2024 zx6r will go up to 244kmh the cbr I believe is around the 270 range. Nevertheless both are great bikes.

I ride a cbr 600 rr ( pc40 ) for about 40 000 km it was a so good handling bike ! And i am happy for the screamers to come back ! But i think if i would buy today a 600 cc sport bike it will be the rs660 or 660 tuono ! But only my taste that has changed

completely different categories, these two are two real super sport meddle size bikes, while the Aprilias you mentioned are one a naked and the other a sport road bike. They don't have much in common with this Honda and this Kawasaki

I’m on my first bike the ninja 500 se and loving it. One of these two will be my second bike but we don’t have the cbr in the states yet. Both look and sound great

What about the Aprilia RS 660? Brill video, love the banter.

Aprilia is not as SuperSport as these two. And the power on the Aprilia is less.

Great vid, and 2 great bikes keeping the supersport class alive. Praying for a new gixer 750 in a range of stlyes (new supersport, 80/90's retro comfy faired and naked bike)

Thanks for the video! One question - how tall and how much do you weigh guys? Being a quite big guy myself I don't want to necessarily choose a big bike because I like these machines

One small thing. In the UK (at least at the moment), there is a road-tax difference between a bike that is under 600cc (CBR) and over 600 (Kawasaki). It's not a huge amount, but if you are tax averse and believe taxation is theft, especially considering the state of the UK roads, it may be important to you.

These last few vid's have made me want to make the leap to my 1st sport bike. 🤔 The red one, because you got to rinse it. *As a 2nd bike.

Thank you for the video, was waiting for it. Still think Honda is a better bike for the money. If I’m not wrong Kawasaki does not have a steering damper as standard, which is another £800. +First registration of £200 from Kawasaki. And Honda put complimentary trackers in their bikes for free.

Great vid. I'm now questioning if I want one lol. I also like the ZX4RR as you can have ZX6RR-esque thrills thrashing the absolute hell out of it at legal speeds.

Great vid guys both bikes are awesome love a 600 screamer. Think you two need to both ride both bikes before you do comparison vid as you always seem to choose the bike you've had for a few weeks
