Ultraviolence & Honeymoon really are her best works. The atmosphere, the cohesion, the structure of each song, the simplistic yet poetic lyrics, pure genius all throughout. NFR is an amazing album, but HM & UV aren’t just albums, they are worlds.

I’m so glad you appreciate Old Money! It’s so beautiful and so many people pay it dust because it’s a slow ballad. I’m glad you liked this album, every time I take a long break from Ultraviolence it sounds better whenever I revisit it.

i'm gonna bring a fun fact once again, i saw somewhere years ago her talking about how she used diffent amounts of paper sheets between her and the mic while recording, so she could her some different volumes and textures on her voice, especially on the layered vocals, idk i just think its pretty cool that its not ALL production but has some organic elements aswell :P

I think Lust for Life will grow on you if you listen to some of the songs individually. It is a very long album and if you take out the 6 songs you like least (different for everyone) - you will end up with a great album. Old Money is my favourite Lana song. I love the line “Will you still love me when I shine From words but not from beauty” which has only recently been challenged as my favourite line by “Let me shine like a diamond Let me be who I'm meant to be”

Loved that you enjoyed 'fucked my way up to the top.' I've always felt like this song is so underappreciated. It's just Lana being the iconic queen that she is in this song (and basically in every other song.) On another note, I would suggest putting the cover of the albums or singles that you're reacting to on the thumbnails because it grabs the attention of people more easily considering how many people just do 'passive scrolling'.

I was going to say the same thing about FMYUTTT. This song is such a rockstar to me but I'm always heading reactors calling it filler. The production here is masterful. And maybe this is a weird thing to pick on but I love the juxtaposition of how softly she says the word fuck. And also how she uses the "lay me down tonight" refrain at the end of the last chorus in Ultraviolence 👌👌👌

@@0485dlp Thank you!! Ikr, like why do so many people pay this song and Florida kilos dust. Also, when she says 'go baby go, go, go' , it fills me with so much excitement; it makes me feel like a badass. Yeah, I know this sounds weird.

This was a really great review, as are all of your LDR ones. I can't be objective about this album - it was the first Lana record I was there for the release of all the singles, hearing a couple of the songs on live bootleg videos before release, and all the excitement along with it, so my memories will always be seen through rose coloured glasses because of that. My main memory is of the fandom being split down the middle between those who wanted her to keep making records like Born To Die (which itself is not a straight up pop record, but really covers so much ground), or going all in on the rock direction. She didn't really do either, and this album is the only one of hers that sounds quite like this.

What I love about this album is how sarcastic it is!! Songs like money power glory, fucked my way, and Brooklyn baby are just jabs at the media and everyone saying that “she can’t sing” and “she’s just in it for the money” and “she must’ve slept with someone to get a record deal” It’s also important to note that this album came after her infamous SNL performance where she was incredibly nervous and “bombed” so everyone thought she wasn’t a real singer. So she gave us this album as a big fuck you and even sang every song live!! (Pretty when you cry was ad libbed) so it’s just so special to my heart bc her personality def shined through

a little while before this album was released, someone hacked her icloud i think, and leaked A LOT of unreleased song, there's probably like 200 of them on youtube, black beauty was one of them... i remember her being SO MAD, it kinda sucks i guess... but we got so many great songs, i can't feel guilty tbh lol (ok last comment i swear)

Fun Fact about Fcked My Way Up To The Top, It is actually a diss track for Lorde. Lorde claimed she doesn’t like the lyricism of Lana’s songs and how she can’t relate to the “having money” or “nice things” which is completely untrue anyways because the point of Lana singing about all of the “things she has” is just a vision. Back when she released Born to Die, she didn’t have any of the things she sang about it was just her envisioning how she wants to live her life. Lorde said she would hear her songs about “money” and she would be figuring out “how to pay for a taxi as a ride home” I personally think Lorde is jealous and Lana ENDED her with Fcked My Way Up To The Top anyways

"Shades of Cool" is the best Bond Song that wasn't intended as one and Lana Del Rey SHOULD be singing a Bond Theme or three.

ok i'm sorry for the 30 comments in a row, its just that i comment as i'm watching otherwise i forget what i was going to say LMAO but there was a theory about f* my way up to the top being about new self (lana del rey) talking with her old self (lizzy grant), i dont remember exacly the whole thing but this song has a lot of interpretations, idk if she confirmed anything tho

"In a recent interview with COMPLEX Magazine, Lana Del Rey discussed her new album Ultraviolence. Among the album's tracks is "Fucked My Way Up To the Top." Though her listeners trumpet many suppositions regarding the inspiration for this song, Del Rey explains to Droppo: It's commentary, like, 'I know what you think of me, and I'm alluding to that. You know, I have slept with a lot of guys in the industry, but none of them helped me get my record deals. Which is annoying."
