I love how you start right in to where you left off last time you saw each other! I don’t think I’ve ever known anyone else who does that! I’m going to try to do it here at the studio next time someone visits. ‘Now the last time you were here we were discussing…!’

In the realm where tales entwine, Malcolm Guite, a poet's sign. With words that dance, a lyrical tale, Lancelot's quest, the Holy Grail. Guite's verses weave a mystic thread, Through Camelot, where legends tread. Lancelot, noble knight and true, Chasing dreams, the Grail in view. In stanzas rich, the journey unfolds, Through forests deep, and stories old. Guite's pen, a magic wand, Conjuring visions, dreams beyond. Lancelot, with armor gleaming bright, Chasing shadows in the moon's soft light. The Grail, a quest of heart and soul, A tale that echoes, forever told. Through ink and parchment, Guite's skill, Breathes life into the mystical thrill. Lancelot's honor, the Grail's allure, A tapestry woven, forever pure. So let the verses gracefully flow, In the realm where legends grow. Malcolm Guite, Lancelot's tale, A poetic dance, beyond the veil.

Lord how I wish to spend my days and nights to write in such humble beauty, that through grace I may overcome my timid shelf that fears even more than ridicule a recognition undeserved. When such prose may grace the world, what hope I have that my scribbles deserve any eyes to read but my own. Listening to you, Christ seems to say, all you have written is but straw. I cannot wait to read the whole work.

Thank you for reading us the next section! I can live with that lol. Very beautiful, filled with so many dimensions of temporality at once, to everything a season, good implicit advice for these days that are upon us. I do deeply hope that you do an audio book, as the imagery and sound are so lush and rich. "Where the word of the poet ceases, a great light begins" George Steiner

Another great addition, I look forward to owning a copy when it’s published. I am in the middle of Chaucer now and will move to Dante when finished, I will add Guite to the list. Of course my reading won’t be as smooth as when you recite it. Best wishes.

Love your pipe! I have often felt the conduct of Lancelot & Guinevere rather reprehensible than tragic. Must be my small town up ringing.
@MalcolmGuitespell Жыл бұрын
i think it can be both reprehensible and tragic, and of course in the earliest versions they both eventually repent and devote themselves (separately) to the religious life

"... in her song she died." Is she ... The Lady of Shalott?
@MalcolmGuitespell Жыл бұрын
I am indeed playfully alluding to the Lady of Shallot, who was also called Elaine and also loved Lancelot in vain, but this is in fact a different Elaine, the daughter of Pelles, the Fisher King

Oh, these moments of hearing this poem (or cycle of poems) is just so wonderful! If I may ask, what is the meter and rhyme scheme?
@MalcolmGuitespell Жыл бұрын
Its mainly ballad form alternating four and three stress lines and rhyming abcb, but I often expand that verse form to include more internal rhymes on the c line ie abccccb

@@MalcolmGuitespell Thannk you so much! It flows so naturally, and has a sense of touching the past, but also being accessible here and now. I love this, and respect your ability to maintain that for 50,000+ words!

Hey Malcolm, just finished That Hideous Strength by Lewis. Curious what you think about the ending?
@MalcolmGuitespell Жыл бұрын
I think it is a great, but nevertheless a flawed novel. I think the ending, notwithstanding the catastrophic destruction of so much, is also meant to promise birth and renewal in the restored relationship between Mark and Jane and the destined child they conceive

Why are Mercator's letters about the North Pole,not talked about. Arthur paid for these explorations. Arthur was very curious, why are we not? Flat Earth. Magnetic North Pole. Giant whirlpool 500 miles wide, draining into the Earth. This doesn't interest anyone?🤔☘️
