16:24 actually in Greek "χαίρετε" (very formal greeting, e.g. for speeches) also is literally the imperative mood of "χαίρομαι" (to be happy), so you are literally telling the other person to be happy... similarly "γεια" (yia) = hi is just a shortened form of "υγεία" (iyia) = health and it said similarly e.g. to cheers or 乾杯.
