@@Alteori You know they cut 15 min of the first film.a couple examples was When the Sharptooth stalks littlefoot and Cera in the thorns the rex eats a bystander out of anger because little foot hit him square in the eye with thorns and u see his eye stuck to the thorn. That's why the rex chases them throughout the film because he wanted revenge for what littlefoot did to him but they cut it and the rex kept his eye that's why it looks out of order when you rewatch it and the other cut is when the gang follows Cera because it seemed easier after littlefoot and Cera fought and little foot breaks down and calls to his mom and finds the great valley on his own but hears the screams of his friends and he goes back to get them from the lava and tar and on his way to his friends the rex follows him through a labyrinth and nearly kills littlefoot but gets in a fight with a triceratops after littlefoot saves his friends, the camera pans to t the rex crunching and eating his fill and goes on to find a cave to sleep and the rest of the film is littlefoot getting his revenge for his mother by killing the rex but in the process ducky and petri die

Also as a child, I liked this one for Doc. Always looked up to the " He is dangerous/mysterious but really nice and kind" Sort of people. And when it is put into a part of a character, I always sort of gravitated towards them. Ended up becoming one myself in real life. So characters like Doc also have that spot in my heart. He also reminds me of a character the late Jack Elam played, who was a deadly gunfighter who just wanted to be left alone and yet trouble always seemed to want a piece of him. Loving these reviews.

Ducky said she can speak "twin talk" known as "Idioglossia" because she is a twin because she had siblings that hatched at the same time as her, but Cera had sisters that hatched the same day as her too so shouldn't she know "twin talk"? maybe because her sisters and mother died off-screen in the first movie. also we don't really see Ducky interacting that much with her sibling beside her adopted brother Spike, who does not talk

This was the last LBT VHS my family bought. My twin and I were starting to get too old for them and the cheesiness was starting to get too cringy. I haven’t seen a single one past this point, so I’m really excited to see your funny interpretations! As for this movie, my twin sister wrote an entirely perverse version of Littlefoot’s Lone Dinosaur song. It is written to the same melody and everything! It’s called “The Lone Dino-whore” but sadly, the lyrics evade me! It’s been a good seven or so years since she wrote it! Good times! I know you said you didn’t like this one much, but Land Before Time 6 is probably my personal favorite out of all the sequels. Yeah, it has its issues (very obvious issues), but Doc just makes the movie for me. He’s also probably my favorite secondary character next to Chomper (although one could argue Chomper gradually became more of a main character what with the TV show and all).

Would’ve much preferred that hypothetical movie however, as opposed to what we actually got with Wisdom of Friends (which is the worst film by the way, and I’ll take Saurus Rock over it any day).

YK, I think at some point when I was young I noticed that the rest of the movies were very different from 1 (danger decreasing was very noticeable) and I just didn't care. I still watched the movies, but nothing really angers me about them like they do with you. I just accept what it is and it doesn't decrease the value of the first. I think the worst these movies get from me is a sigh and eye roll when I learn that another movie is being made.

The first The Land Before Time movie was directed by Don Bluth and produced by George Lucas and Stephen Spielberg, with all of them being at the heights of their careers. It is the Manhattan-Project of dinosaur animation. It's almost unfair to compare the sequels to it. The heavy-hitters who made that first movie were able to take some huge narrative and tonal risks without fear of being shut down by the studio. The sequels were played much more safely, with safe amounts of action and a safe overindulgence in comedy.

I wholeheartedly agree about your opinion on the "Sharp Teeth" in every movie after the first one. Also, my favorite dinosaurs are dilophosaurus and spinosaurus. Just in case you couldn't guess my favorite scene in Jurassic Park, nae, all movies, is the one where the dilophosaurus spits in that one dude's face near the end of the movie. It isn't even that the character on the receiving end is technically an antagonist, I would still love the scene if it was, instead, a main character. I just think dilophosauruses are cute and acid spit is cool.

And they went across the chasm jumping on those frail pillars while they could be walking around... in the first movie, before reuniting with Cera, Littlefoot at first tried to search a safe way to get across the chasm who was created by the earthquake instead of trying climb up and risking his life. In reference to 34:37, same: My favorite non-bird dinos are eudromaeosaurs, which were basically "terrestrial hawks" in terms of ecology/behavior (& thus, both the most awesome & the easiest to imagine as living animals). If I had to pick a favorite eudromaeosaur, I'd probably pick Deinonychus based on how much we know about it, but Velociraptor & Utahraptor would be close behind followed by other raptor dinos, especially Troodon. Also, the allosaur goes back-&-forth btwn 3 fingers at 41:34 & 2 at 41:41.

As someone who grew up with this series, I have to say that the franchise as a whole went on a wild ride over the years. I guess as a kid I never really payed attention to its flaws, but looking back on them through your videos really brings those flaws to the surface.
