This is such a great detailed history of the iconic Landcruiser. It deserves more views and likes.

Fantastic summary. But you missed the 105 Series. Maybe you didn't get them in North America (just like the 70 Series which are considered legends here in Australia). The 105 Series is essentially a 100 Series with an 80 Series chassis - solid front axle, instead of the 100 Series' IFS setup. They were only offered in the first few years of the 100 Series release, and only in the lower spec variants - they were targeted at farmers, first reponders, resource & utility companies. Here in Australia, they are now highly sought after by hard offroad wheelers. They give a more modern and comfortable interior of the 100 Series with the offroad uber capable chassis of the 80 series.

17:00 this is not a J70 light. It is just the short wheelbase version of the most recent 70 heavy duty series.

Thanks for taking the time for putting this video together. I think it is a good overview of the Land Cruiser evolution. I do believe you went a little "light" on the FJ40 series importance. IMO it is what many people think of when they think of Land Cruisers. (Dating myself I am sure) Either way. good effort.

I believe the biggest error Toyota US did with 200 Series Land Cruiser was only import the top spec variant. If they imported various varients, including the lower spec Land Cruiser GX (different to the Lexus GX), it would have been more affortable. Here in Australa, the price percentage difference between the low spec GX variant against the top spec Sahara variant is as much as 43%-45%. 🫨 The Prado also replaced the 4Runner in Australia. I wish we are getting the new 4Runner soon to be released. Instead we get the Hilux based Fortuner.

Here in Australia, the 55 Series LandCruiser is colloquially known as "The Iron Pig".

The J90 Prado also had a 3.0 turbo diesel. Its a great engine. And a great rig.

I was surprised to see the 4runner and Tacoma mentioned for shared features and engines in some years, as well as the Lexus counterparts, and no honorable mention for the FJ Cruiser. It shares most of its underpinnings with the Prado and GX of its year, and ran from 2007 all the way to 2022 in some countries with only a recent discontinuation. It also carries the original styling and part of the chassis code as it's model name. Great video and very informative though!
