I was concentrating on the road too much! Watching the cars flying by on the right gave me a heart attack, the clockwise roundabout (even worse). I thought you were a gonner for sure. :)

What about if the diff lock engages and disengages but the light doesn't come on, what could be the fault there? As that's what I've got on my Disco 2.

Great. I had the diff lock on to get out of a snowed in park place but forgot to disengage. Then drove 10 miles on wet tarmac. I hope I haven't knackered the difflock. At least I can now check.

Diff lock dashboard light was working properly.Yesterday I tested the diff lock but the light didn't work What are the possible reasons ?

To test the diff, is the transmission in gear? You mentioned putting e-brake down but what about transmission?

Hey! I can’t seem to engage my high drive at all, no light comes on. Low drive goes straight in. Could this be an issue I need to have looked at?!

ahh odd noises yes.....sometimes not always when i am slowing down and rolling into a parking space say, i hear a clickety clack from underneath sounds like the gear box, i thought it might be handbrake drag but like i said it doesnt do it all the time...any ideas, ps there is no undue noise through the gears, or gear box when under power, just when i de-clutch and roll it if ya see what i mean, slow speeds,

ah, my long distance listening facility is out of action since the cold war so I couldn't guess. Sounds can be sometimes divided into rotary, loose and jamgly of clicking when suspension moves. can't say any more than that sorry.

***** haha yeah long distance diagnosis can be tricky. Defo rotary like back n forth clack of the backlash I recon its the handbrake dragging

hum, okay. Don't be tempted to hang off the chassis whilst its rolling to get a closer look but I have know people to put a camera with microphone in the area the noise is coming from to listen a bit closer.

Any taught on diagnostic tools which is better hawk eye or the lynx tool for the DIY er

Greg Dyar depends if you want an interface that attaches to a PC laptop on a compact hand held tool. They are about the same how they work because they are both put together by Omnitec.

Is lynx developed for landrover only or is it capable of use on other vehicles like hawk eye. Also does an interface give you better explanation of the faults. I think you're the only person who has tested both that's why I'm asking these questions. Thanks for your help

Lynx is only Land Rover and like just the hawkEye is single vehicle type locked unless you purchase unlock codes. . HawkEye PRO can be open for a wide variety of vehicles. HawkEye is vehicle type specific but can be unlocked for other Land Rovers or other vehicle types where as Lynx cannot. . The Interface choice you will have to look and see for yourself which is best for you. With HawkEye you don't need a laptop with flat battery issues, HawkEye is powered from the EOBD socket. The actuations and other facilities you need to look at for your vehicle.
