Welcome back another Discovery 2 TD5 video, today we're replacing a front wheel bearing (MOT advisory) on a Land Rover Discovery 2 TD5, we'll show which tools are needed and also how to overcome some of the more challenging parts of this particular job. You can also buy replacement bolts for hub, caliper carrier and the calliper itself if they are old it's advisable they are changed for future maintaince etc.

Does the drive shaft come out all the time or is it possible to keep it in place.did you use a bearing puller Tia

we did ue a bearing puller to push it out, as it had been in there for a long time and created a seal with rust/debris etc if new it slides in and out easily just be careful not to damage the splines you can apply a little oil/grease when refitting.

Did mine today, well tried to 😕 one of the 15mm bolts holding the bearing in has rounded and I dunno how to get it out 😭

In this situation something like this may help: www.screwfix.com/p/erbauer-bolt-nut-remover-set-6-pcs/6083d - bang it on then use a breaker bar to crack it, after replace the bolt with a new one hope that helps we have had many problems like this ourselves.

you can also try cleaning it up with a wire brush, shocking it with a hammer, penetrating oil and finally heat. for some bolts I have use visegrips (curved jaw locking pilers, a quality brand not rolson) but only as a last resort but they do work.

I took the half shaft out to clean it. I'm having problems reinserting it. It goes in so far but I don't think the splines are lining up inside.

we had the same problem, so just took it out and carefully tried again eventually it went in properly.
