Lot of hate for the Land Rover on here! I love mine! Absolutely brilliant car. You can't run one on peanuts, and it'll never have Toyota reliability, but for me a D4 is simply the best family car out there. It works on road, off road, it works as a van, a limo, a tractor, a people carrier, the stereo is louder than the kids, it's comfier than being in bed... What more do you need? I think a lot of people spouting about reliability issues have never owned one. I'd forgive mine more or less anything because it's genuinely such a good car. Great video by the way, nice to see another one getting dirty!

Too Bad they Trashed it for that Ssangyong Feminazi lookalike. The Disco 4 Chassis could have lived on as the new Defender. Versatile body styles, bit Wider, a live Rear Axle, long Travel heavy duty independent Front suspension, difflocks, super low transfer,manual/ auto and less much less tech.

I've had a 2011 HSE 3.0 SDV6 for 5 years. It had 25000 miles when got it, it now has 72000 miles. I love this car. It has everything. Comfort, speed, wow can it accelerate, go anywhere, tow anything easily (I have a twin axle caravan and the discovery does not care at all when it's on the back). You can drive for miles easily, I tour France every year with my caravan and it's an extraordinarily comfortable ride (air suspension). So far it has never let me down. I've just had it detailed and it looks brilliant. It's mine till the wheels fall off. And yes, you will need a lot of spare cash, for brakes, discs, tyres and servicing, it's not cheep to run, but worth every single penny. Hope this helps if your thinking of getting one.
@Feintgames5 жыл бұрын
I'm thinking about getting one here in the US. I'm worried about the running costs. Brakes and tires are fine. But if the vehicle is pretty unreliable, I don't want to deal with that. Would you consider it reliable? Some of the stories online are crazy with timing chain replacements for $4200, etc.
@karlbratby43495 жыл бұрын
@@Feintgames dont believe a lot of the scare stories, yes if they go wrong can be pricey but buy a good one that hasn't been used as a tractor and the disco 4 upgrade version has had all the issues ironed out. and as ive done purchase a warranty that covers you for most issues, I got mine when bought the car.

Bought mine in March. It’s 2010 HSE full service 89.000 mls all belts change and the car is like new I love it there is one thing some people won’t know and that is the Discovery 4 Up to 2013 has a low rev Turbo and high rev Turbo low rev Turbo up to 2.800 revs high rev Turbo kicks in over 2.800 revs so when you but your foot down and the high rev Turbo kicks in I got a lot of smoke out the the back and almost S.it myself but I did abut of research and found out that it’s the Turbo oil return pipe needed to be changed from a long one that’s on the Discovery to a short one because when you’re driving around and mostly low revs oil builds up in the high rev Turbo then when you but you’re foot down this oil burns off and you panic not knowing wot is happing so Land Rover made the short Turbo return pipe to fix this the thing about Land Rover is that the Holes for the short pipe are there for you there caped of .the pipe around £20 and if you do a bit on cars you can do this you’re self job sorted and I’m still in love with it the bests car have had by far if you’re thinking about getting one look for full service reasonable mileage and go for it I can get 34 mpg around town ok tax is £500 a year but can’t have it all or can you

If you have champagne taste, but a beer budget , don’t give yourself the stress ! When maintained correctly and not allowed to ‘slip’ , you will be rewarded with a reliable vehicle that is a fabulous place to be ! Have had my 2010 HSE since it was 3 x years old and has been versatile and faultless … until it blew in France last year at 145k miles …. Then a world of pain ref engine rebuild / replace options as supply so limited . £10k to rectify with a low mile secondhand engine after a lot of searching and hassle with sharks ! Why you may ask ….. well having mai tai ed regardless of cost ( suspension , gear box service , rads etc) I know it inside out and as based in Ireland , worth twice the amount than the U.K. despite €2,400 annual road tax . Biggest reason thought was what else combines the light , airy space and practicality and well as the new models being so expensive and you will see graveyards of 2.0 version Landrover , so I like the Devil I know and will keep for the foreseeable and just have a range of cars for all purposes ( SMART , 107 SL ETC) and still save money over replacing !

Well - I managed to get a D4 Landmark last August - late 2016 version with only 34,000 on the clock - looks like brand new. Absolutely love it, it's such a joy to drive. Just trying to find the best tyres - I want all terrain, all season with the snow symbol so I can drive in Europe in winter. I did go to PowerfulUK and have swapped most of the filament bulbs for LED (ie: reverse, rear fog, number plate, puddle lights and internals) - and it's booked in to have the underside professionally Lanoguarded. It's one of the very last before they switched to the D5 (I definitely prefewr the D4) and I plan on keeping it for a long time.

Well, it's not a Jaguar/Landrover engine. This is a PSA engine - out of Peugeot-Citroën-Ford-cooperation, designed for smaller, lighter vehicles (with many crankshaft failures as logical bonus).

They have run the 2.7 TDV6 in the Australian Ford Territory without crankshaft failures, the engine is ok, just LR couldn't build them right.

Mines never gone wrong. If you have one and it has then fair enough but too many people willing to criticise something due to an ill conceived reputation. People don’t tend to shout from the roof tops that theirs hasn’t broken. Fantastic robust vehicles just look after them and they will look after you. Landrover had their day of producing low powered, prinitive common rail diesel engines like that fitted to the apparently bombproof Toyotas. People want more than that from vehicles in this day and age

@@GeorgeSaunders Farming must have changed hell of a lot since the days I worked all the hours under the sun for virtually nothing. Like finishing at 1.30am and back at work at 8am. No time to enjoy yourself away from work. Though I enjoyed the life in a way (young & stupid) lol. I moved on to heavy plant, really big boys toys in opencast mines, that was enjoyable.
