I’ve always heard good things. About to buy one for my wife. Also not scared to work on it. Been driving Series 2 Discovery’s for 20 Years. lol

Just thought I'd add my comments. I have a 2015 Discovery Sport HSE with 2 litre Ingenium engine which I bought 18 months ago at 78,000 miles. First thing that went within 3 months was the steering rack which failed because of the corroded bolts. Land Rover replaced free of charge at my local LR Dealership - although annoyed, I was impressed with the speed that LR accepted liability and secondly the speed that LR fixed it - 4 days! Next I chose to have the timing chain replaced which made start-up much quieter and gave me peace of mind that it was going to fail and cost a new engine. Much more recently I had a ABS sensor fail which my local independent LR garage fixed within 4 days. Apart from that (touch wood), the Disco has been excellent. Very impressed with off-road ability as I do a lot of winter field sports. Very comfortable on long journeys and getting 40+ mpg. Not so impressed that the 2nd hand market for these cars has plummeted - if I had waited a year before exchanging my Disco 3 for the Disco Sport, I'd have got the DS much cheaper but there you go!

They are good cars and it sounds like the aftersales has improved, which is good. Off road it’ll be hard to beat. I had an abs sensor go on my evoque too 🤔 JLR prices are a bit all over the place right now. People speculating on the new Range Rover have lost 10s of thousands of pounds by the sound of it 😳

Absolutely brilliant car. Had a 2016 HSE 2.0 ingenium, but the reputation of the engine gave me too many sleepless nights so switched to the bulletproof 2.2 in Lux guise. The ultimate in versatility, style, comfort and spec. Even got stuff we never use like auto parking and cooled seats. And no adblu hassle! Now clocked up 95k trouble free miles @ 38-41mpg.

Great to hear. These cars often get a bad press and its not always deserved. You've got to get it to the 100k mark now though 😎

I needed this video right now. I bought a 2017 disco sport with the 2 litre 180 ingenium 3 months ago and can’t shake the feeling something is going to go wrong , I’ve had no issues so far. It’s just had the timing chain done and a full service so I thought if I was going to buy one then this would be the one. The price has nose dived terribly in just 3 months of ownership and I now have a very sick feeling as it wasn’t cheap. Its nice to see a positive review for once, even if it was 2 years ago😅

2017 was a better year for the disco sport. The steering column issues were fixed. Ours went not long after that video!! Sold the car about a year ago now and the Audi etron that replaced it is simply not as good. It’ll be fine, all cars go wrong. For some reason people think Porsches are reliable 🤣

I've got one of the early ones that were fitted with the 2.2 lump. I've had it for four years and I absolutely love it. Absolute workhorse, effortlessly practical and *touch wood* reliable too. Faults; the dust boot on the OSF shock needed to be glued back down and the aircon needed a regas. Somehow I'm still on the original battery, but it's starting to show signs that its on its way out. Spent £800 on a set of Scorpions last year. Economy is great, 30+ mixed and over 45 on a run if you don't go too far over 2k RPM. It'll chuck in a 25 on a short run though, just to keep you on your toes. Not bad at all for a car that's coming up for ten years old. ...and yeah, you can get *most* of a U15's football team in one! (although the keeper can't fit in the third row seats!)

Great review, thank you. I'm considering a 2018 Disco Sport with the 2.0L petrol engine. Fingers crossed it's got no issue. As a 6ft9 guy, I could use the extra space, compared to the Evoque haha. Also, congrats on the 3130 subscribers. A great increase from the 300 you mention in the video. Keep up the good work!

Many thanks 👍 Yeah, at 6’9” you’ll definitely need the bigger car. 2018 is a good year, no steering rack issues.

@@midlifemotors5050 That's good to know. I saw your reply when I was buying the car! Haha The car is so tall, I still have about 2-3 inches above my head, even with my back straight. Bliss!

Don't have the disc sport but just bought a evoque3 weeks ago, the best seats I have sat in with the best adjustments ever, its a great car to be sat in and feel proud when I look back at it, unfortunately it as to go into Land Rover for a engine whine (same engine as your disc sport) didn't realise when I bought it wasn't suppose to sound like that. Luckily its still under warranty, its a known issue with that engine, I think its the Balance shaft (don't quote me on that) the mechanic said it was to balance out the engine but the noise will just get worse but docent effect the engine performance, now I am wondering do I risk without manufactures warranty (runs out in Nov) or pay yearly which is nearly £800?
@midlifemotors50503 жыл бұрын
I loved my Evoque too, still miss it tbh. Mine was 7 when I sold it earlier this year. Zero issues so didn't bother with the additional warranty. Just made sure I had breakdown in case the dreaded steering column issue struck.

Thank you man, I got a steal on a 2016 lux with low miles. It's such a comfortable touring car! Not meant for fast acceleration like you said, but handles like a dream. I have no electrical issues except the GPS chip is missing. Mine has the spare tire instead of 3rd row but I'd rather have had the 3rd row. The major mechanical issue I negotiated 1k off was the turbocharger was throwing an overcharge code. Could just be the sensor or I need an expensive new turbo. But parts, accessories, customizations are so available! They're rather pricey though Honestly yall I paid 13k for mine and that's cheaper than junker rusty trucks nowadays. Live in luxury while it's cheap!!
@midlifemotors50507 ай бұрын
Great stuff. They are excellent bits of kit. Fingers crossed the turbo code is a quick fix. Health to enjoy your new car 👍

I really appreciate your review of this. We saw one at carmax the other day that the wife liked. But I'm very hesitant based on what you mentioned in the past with issues. With this brand... My question is how does it drive? Are these smooth? Are these relatively fast? How do they compare to another brand say like BMW or VW?
@midlifemotors50506 ай бұрын
Post 2018 they got better but still need to go in eyes wide open. Lovely ride and drive. Not quick in D180 form but good mpg for the size of the thing. VWs are very plastic these days IMO but the BMs are nice. This car has now been replaced with an Audi Q4 which is nice enough but there is something about the LR products that just feels right.

What is the Disco Sport and Evoque like for DPF issues? I am looing at possibly buying one of either but am nervous re the DPF issues which are known problem? Thanks in advance
@midlifemotors50503 жыл бұрын
No issues with the Evoque, but that has the the older 2.2 engine. The Disco (2.0 Ingenium) has had 1 dpf clean in it's time at a cost of £180. It was preventative at the end of year 4. A colleague at work has a '66 plate Disco Sport too, similar miles, and it went into limp mode. He feared the worst, knackered dpf, but after a dpf clean the car was ok again, phew!!
@zoeh65462 жыл бұрын
We have a 2017 disco sport and after 6 months the EML came on and it went into limp mode. Landrover originally tried to charge us £1200 for a new DPF then said we could try a recondition and luckily it worked. Admittedly I do a lot of short journeys in the car and the car doesn’t like that at all! You do get warnings popping up every now and then saying to clear the DPF and drive about 60mph for 20 mins so never ignore them cause I did before I went into limp mode cause I didn’t have time to go for a drive! Now I make sure I give the car a good drive at least every few days
