Nice video, very thorough breakdown of information. The newer diesel engines don’t seem like good value with their issues. The older 2.2 engine is brilliant, we have a 2013 Freelander with the 190 bhp version, apart from 1 issue with the egr in 2017 it’s never missed a beat and almost 170k miles now.

The European and British version of the car, the same 2.0-liter gasoline 5-seater version is 176 kg lighter than the Chinese version. May I ask whether the body material of the European and British version, in the doors, hood, and body covering parts, is aluminum alloy used? The Chinese version of the car uses aluminum alloy plastic material for the trunk, and the rest of the body covering parts are made of steel. Hi, could you confirm if you car is a mild hybrid engine? As it is a Chinese model, it will almost certainly have been built in Changshu (LR Chery facility) this will mean the body material will have a different origin due to exportation and importation of graded metal meaning LR built in China will use body material created in the local market rather than Europe, however the material tensile strength will need to be near identical and so likely similar in weight, the more likely scenario for 173kg is the same as South America and Europe, specification differences and safety equipment, while in Europe Euro NCAP safety testing will mandate a lot of equipment needed for top marks, China will likely differ and manufacturers commonly remove safety equipment in markets that have lower safety standard (this doesn't always make the car less safe in an impact, but Europe is patricianly hard on mandating additional driver aids (ADAS for example) - which add weight, many other countries, including the USA don't mandate this equipment). The UK follows the same standards as European market regulators 👍

Hi, does China quote bare vehicle weight? This is quite rare. For example the identical car in the EU is 1939kg, the DIN weight, the number you have found is used in the U.S I believe. But I’m not sure what Chinese regulators stipulate? The EU require a half tank of fuel and one occupant of 72kg from memory for example, China may be similar 👍

Hello, the bare car weight I mentioned earlier is generally consistent in China and Europe. I have specifically checked the Chinese car weight standard. The weight of the 2.0-liter 48V 5-seater model marked on the Jaguar Land Rover China official website is 2040kg, and the 5-seater model with the same engine system on the UK official website is 1864kg. Their conditions are consistent. They are all the weight of the car when it leaves the factory, including all the oils and fluids of the whole car, excluding the weight of passengers and cargo. There is one condition that I cannot confirm, which is the 48V mild hybrid system. The 2.0-liter gasoline engine systems sold in China are all equipped with 48V. Is it the same for the Discovery Sport models currently sold in Europe? Summary: They're nice cars whose build and engineering quality are so bad it's unbelievable. Even if the one you buy is one that isn't broken it probably soon will be. I'd avoid any JLR vehicle unless you do very low mileages and have deep pockets to cover the repairs which are bound to be needed.
