It does make one wonder what states these cars will look like if owners dont wash them "out " after severe off roading , would all the plastic clips start breaking off ect

Would be interesting to get an original Defender on the ramp after a days off roading and compare the mud traps and how easy it is to clean the underside.

Watching this video of you guys jet washing your Defender, I looked out of the window at my F2 and thought , "I must give that a jet wash". Then decided it'd be too boring, so finished watching you clean yours. Sometimes logic just goes straight out of the window !

Very therapeutic!! Well done men!...but my goodness what mud..and clearly do not buy a Defender from a farmer when it is ten years old !! When you get that underbody lance , it will be much easier in places like those side steps and those joints and traps underneath. Good that there is not much damage and pf course The Stig is a work horse taking other owners to places they will never go!! The black plastic comes up well with Autoglym Bumper and Trim Gel of you want to make it look good BUT a the viewers will say NO!...it is how a Defender should look!! As a rep for a detailing company and a car detailer in my spare time. Don’t use a sponge ever. Use a micro fibre mitt or a sheeps wool mitt. Abs use the two bucket method. And use multiple mitts. Then dry with a dedicated drying towel. However. This is a car that’s likely going to have thousands of micro scratches so probably not worth all the extra effort

Many years ago I raced my Land Rover at a working quarry which meant that we were weighed on the way in and on the way out. The weighbridge operator had my vehicle checked by the security man because it was 240 kgs heavier on the way out than when we went in. It was the muddiest race I ever did and the weighbridge proved it

We need to be careful washing the rad at the bottom as the flaps were removed when fitting the winch - the top of the rad still has the flaps so these are closed by dafault. The nice wheels might go back on sometime - they did look lush and have all terrain tyres...

Glad to see there is little to no damage.... Did you loose one of the new wheel centre? - Upgrade maybe due before launch.. NEVER USE A SPONGE... Just a Neutral TFR or Snow Foam (Bilt Hamber). If you need it really clean - Snow Foam - Rinse - Snow Foam a Wash Wax (Chemical Guys V07) - Rinse - Snow Foam a Wash Wax (CG V07) - then a 2 bucket and Microfiber Wash Mitt with V07 - Then Rinse - then a DI Rinse if you have a dark car... Then Dry if you are 1000% sure all dirt is removed - using Yum Car Dry Cloths..

You don't actually go anywhere near a car, or anything with paint you care about, with a SPONGE!!! Sponges are a hive of little cavities that hold the dirt, you have to rinse them so much to get rid of all the grit it's not worth the effort. Use a cloth/microfiber mitt and two buckets, one soapy and one clean/rinse. As soon as the rinse bucket gets dirty, replace with clean water.....this will lead to your vehicle cleaning addiction, you will then buy every bloody product available on the market over the next 12 months then realize you could have bought a new car with what you've spent!!!! Friend told me this by the way!! ;-)
@hedydd23 жыл бұрын
Or just use a good traffic film remover and power wash off. Only need a cloth or sponge for the ultimate job before going to weddings or funerals.
@zoid99693 жыл бұрын
Yes, Richard is most definitely wrong on the sponge front. Yes, use a microfibre to dry the car, but use a mitt (or two) to wash it. You can stick the mitt in the washing machine afterwards to wash it. Please, Simon, buy a couple of Meguiars wash mitts - they're only £10.80 each from Amazon.

exactly! there shouldn't even be a debate. Never let a sponge touch a car!
@HQBProductions3 жыл бұрын
@@jessieleeofficial Why not...😀😀😀....what is not understood is that you use several sponges going from brand new and as they age their use goes lower down the car. Also..use a GOOD sponge, not a decorators thing from B&Q and use plenty of water with each pass having presoaked the car and used snow foam. Of you are finding grit on a sponge then you are not using it properly. My sponges stay brand new and grit free but if you use a microfibre mitt, those things are good at polishing but get filled with trapped grit in no time. I have been washing cars since 1956...I study all the valeting videos and from very long experience, used CAREFULLY, sponges...with an S...are the best answer. Microfibre soft towels are perfect afterwards ...I use many f them! So check that wash mitt for grit..most are full of it!! 😱😃😃😃😃
