Do a lot of LR chassis repairs - I find it's one vehicle where a plasma cutter comes in really handy for cutting out grot. On those specific outriggers, you really need to cut away that lower outer section as well - the damn rust lurks in behind it, hiding. Another sneaky spot is in behind the rear springs - if loads took their springs off, they'd see holey behind on the chassis wall inside the spring-bracket - a sod of a spot to fix unless you have a plasma as well. :-)

Yeah this one was good behind the lower part but the drivers side was a buggered! I'm tackling the rear of the chassis currently and it has rotted behind the drivers side rear spring and bump stop, also got some nasty rot under the A frame cross member, if you're on insta have a look for me on there I post more on there than KZbin as KZbin takes twice as long to do the job and then hours for editing too!

And don't forget to spray inside it with wax oil as they usually rot from inside out 👍

Don't worry, it's been lathered in it, I don't fancy doing it again 😅

Hi mate, great video which will be really helpful. What panels/stuff do you need to remove to gain enough access for the job?
@mozsmancave23313 жыл бұрын
Hi, I had the wings and some of the bulkhead removed (as I was carrying out the repairs to the bulk head at the same time)
@christopherastbury6644 Жыл бұрын
Hi, Excellent video for replacing the outrigger. Do you have to take the wing, doors off for this task please.
@mozsmancave2331 Жыл бұрын
No you don't, but it is far easier to do without the wing on
@tomthompson74003 жыл бұрын
How do you know that the bottom corner on the bulkhead is in the right place though?
@mozsmancave23313 жыл бұрын
Hi, the sill is holding bulkhead in place at the bottom of the "a post", you can see the big G clamp in the back ground from the sill to the rock slider. That's how I did it, alternatively you would measure the position from various points of the chassis 👍🏻

Could you recomend a good chassis paint ..inside and out
@mozsmancave23313 жыл бұрын
Buzzweld has good reviews and is supposed to be the best. Personally not used it.

@@mozsmancave2331 what do you use
@mozsmancave23313 жыл бұрын
@@stepho9999 I've used the autotek stone guard to see how it holds up as a cheaper alternative, used hammerite up to now with decent results

Waxoyl, shultz, red lead primer or galv spray if your rich
@tomthompson74003 жыл бұрын
@@temsbab1565 Waxoyl creates far more problems than it solves , its woeful stuff.

Good stuff, what welder are you using?
@mozsmancave23313 жыл бұрын
Currently using the SIP weldmate 2300mp, it can do mig gas and gasless, tig and stick. It's fairly compact too

Moz's Mancave Mine a cebora boxer 155 twin (what ever all that means🤣🤣) I welded a lot of my old transit camper up years ago with one of those (but the one I used then wasn’t mine) . Then I bought a sealey welder I just couldn’t get on with that, so I found a Cebora the same and bought that it’s been great.

@@Menditman2014 I really can't complain about the little sip I have, it's been awesome and it was only around £500 new. And it's 200 amp. I also have an old Miller tig welder sat under the bench, and it's bloody massive 😅 overall dimensions are around 900mm long x 500mm wide x 700mm high. I'm yet to get it running on 240v electrics but apparently it is possible to step the power down from 3 phase 415v.
@Menditman20143 жыл бұрын
Moz's Mancave Yes my dads got a what was a 3 phase compressor and it runs through a box and runs on normal mains now. That was for a sand blasting cabinet but the compressor hasn’t been used for a good while. But I did purchase for my self what may become a new business venture (a pro sand blasting set up with a big road tow compressor) it will be featured soon on my other channel. Did you sub that channel?
@mozsmancave23313 жыл бұрын
@@Menditman2014 I've been meaning to take a look at your channel, will have a look when I'm on break 😏 I think this particular welder you can remove 2 of the phases in the back of the machine so it will run 240v, possibly may video getting it up and running...

What spray did you use ? thanks
@mozsmancave23313 жыл бұрын
Just the stone guard from auto tech, it's around £20 for 4 tins and seems to be pretty decent for the price.

@@mozsmancave2331 Is that what you used in the chassis when doing the outrigger .
