It's one thing testing VC when stationary with the engine switched off but when traveling I just give up.

my pivi pro vocal have many freeze and problems still 2021. None of the updates have stopped thoses issues, I had to turn it off.

The PIVI system does seem to be one of the best on the market these days. Ive tried other cars (BMW/Audi/Merc) and their recognition isnt as good as the Jag/Landrover system.

I find voice control on all vehicles problematic with Welsh names. Google maps is very good though. In my 2017 Volvo XC90 [no CarPlay and therefore no Google Maps] was very good at cabin temperature control and I used it as my primary control for this function. I found that I could use ‘DAB Radio On” or whatever, to work better than just “Radio On”.

@@L663 I also found that volume or temperature could be controlled simply by saying either Volume/temperature UP/Down. Or for temperature ‘I’m cold/hot’ or ‘temperature 21’. None of this works as well on my current Kia but the Kia is better at recognising and navigating to spoken place names. Google Maps even better, but then I lose the direction visual assistance directly ahead of the driver which only works with the car’s own system. My 2015 Honda has the best phone voice dialling in practice because I have to record voice tags for my favourite numbers and the system then matches my current demand with the voice tag and dials it. All these systems have their own ‘character’ and quirks, best and worse points.

I've had my brand new evoque 5 days now, and your video has made me realise its not me being thick or useless, Pivi Pro is just not very good. Shame really, after how it was made out to be a cutting edge system with natural language controls. Yeah right!

I use carplay most of the time for nav and my music, its a shame that CP wont operate the car as it does with the Landrover voice recognition. It means i have to manually switch between CP and LR which is a real PITA

This is a key point - even JLR advertise it has Alexa integrated but they dont allow Alexa to control the car....

The voice control is as good as my Volvo XC90 ie useless. By the time you press the button, say what you want you would be quicker doing it manually never mind trying to remember the exact command when you’re driving in a busy town and stressed.
