Clock display should be available on every echo speaker. The studio for example would be complete had it the display option. For me the dot is a fun speaker not something I’d ever use other than a travel soeaker

I've got a few 4th gen echo dots with clocks, one 4th gen full sized echo and now one 5th gen echo dot with clock.... sound-wise, the 5th gen dot is marginally "better" than the 4th gen dot...but not hugely so. For music, the full sized 4th gen echo is far better than either (but still doesn't hold a candle to a decent sound system, obviously)..... The 5th gen clocks......I'm still getting used to the new "dot matrix" look of the 5th gen...but I really kind of prefer the "bar" style of the 4th gen.....although I understand why Amazon changed it.... Adding the temperature sensor to the dots was a big plus for me. Adding the ability to have it be a wi-fi extender with your Eero setup is very cool....IF you don't mind being limited in your speeds. If you only have a 100Mbs connection, then it's all good......I have a 300Mbs connection, and my Eero system covers my house fine without needing the extra extender (that would slow down the devices connected to it)....but for those who can utilize it....very nice. Overall, I like the 5th gen......I just wish they'd put a clock in the full sized echo.... Also, I wish (and maybe you can and I just haven't found it) you could adjust the volume of the Alexa "voice" separately from the music...I often find that the voice is quiet compared to music, and also sounds kind of muffled.....if I crank the treble up to make the "voice" better, then the music is too "hot". Maybe a feature for the future....

Question - On the fifth gen can you have it NOT display the songs being played? In other words I just want the CLOCK displayed constantly regardless of what Alexa is doing. For instance if I want white noise played throughout the night I don't want that scrolling across the screen all night. I want the clock displayed.

I noticed on three occasions you had to repeat your command. This is the problem I had with the 4th Gen Echo. I don't think Echo is as responsive to commands as I'd like, which is why I'm back to using Google Nest Mini, which is not perfect either but it responds well.

like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, kzbin.infoUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....

Sensor did not work on either echoes. Worked on it for a long time with Amazon tech. I think they have a problem. They could not get the occupancy routine to work. Tried everything see my other review.

really like the temp sensor feature. recently had to unplug and reset it everyday. finally did a hard reset and its working fine again but i see it is off the market or at least it says does not ship to my area.Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock.

Is that a 4th gen dot in cloud blue? How did u..where did u..I’ve never seen that? I have 1 eero 6… not true mesh but I live in 1,100 sq ft condo. Not sure if I’ll activate my dots as extender since it only supports 100 mbps (my internet is 300 and eero router seemed to take care of my dead spots). If I had dead spots or lesser speed I’d definitely activate it. FYI eero extension doesn’t work on stereo paired dots

I found the dot clock display to bright for the bedroom even at lowest brightness. So tend to keep the display off. I simply use the studio for music and dots for voice control.

The 5th gen has an ambient sensor. My echo dot 5 dims when turning down the lights and get brighter with more light.

No it shouldn't. Just as a heads up, you don't need to add this as an eero, you could just use it as an echo dot speaker.

I don’t recommend using as an extender. Works great as a smart speaker and would be ok as an extender if for some reason you had no other options. I’m sure the tech will improve in future products but for now it’s not quite there.
