Well done missing that brown snake, they can turn and attack very quickly. We are lucky to have a green tree snake in our backyard, non venomous and absolutely beautiful. Your images are fabulous, particularly that cascade..........beautiful in that strong light. Have a good week 😁

Thank you David, yeah I have heard the browns are very unpredictable. Have a great week 🙏🙏🙏

I have never understood why you "SHOULDN'T" photograph in the middle of the day - sure it may be a bit harder - but life wasn't meant to be easy. Nature always has something to give if you can only open your eyes and SEE. You do have to be careful of those snakes - if you stood on my tail, I would turn round a bite too - but it is their territory! Beautiful images, the one at 7:40 is a winner, I DO like the overhead light! then the one at 10:30 - words fail me on this one! So simple a composition. See...... Nature always has something to give. Glad to see Raffy enjoying himself and he knows to leave well enough alone. See you next week

It was a bit tough Helen but I walked away really energised (and not just from the fright from the snake 😂). Raffy never ceases to amaze me he was very good indeed. Hope you are well... Have a great week 🙏🙏🙏

Really nice images Izzy, great results from using the 10 stop on the small cascade. Loved the last image. Very glad you and Raffy did not have any trouble with the King Brown. Always good to challenge ones self with a different genre. Look forward to next week, stay safe.

far from the easiest / best conditions for woodland / waterfall photography, but you got some tasty results Izzy 🙂 the small cascade looked nice in that dappled sunlight. no snakes in the Brecon Beacons mate!!

Cheers buddy, I always struggle in the trees, but you have to push yourself if you want to improve. As I like to philosophise on... if something is worth doing, its worth doing badly (meaning if its important give it a go, regardless of the quality of the result - if you can't do that it really wasn't important in the first place). What am I like... just call me the Antipodean Aristotle 😂. Have a great week buddy 🙏🙏🙏

Hi Izzy, pleased to see both you and Raffy survived, it can be dangerous out there, it's only just warming up so the snake situation will only get worse, loved the image at 17.20

You did very well stepping out of your normal territory.. You did far better than I've done in the woodland genre. You had some nice features to keep your images visually appealing. You managed to keep the richness in the colors which is where I seem to struggle most. Well done. Beautiful images as always.

Cheers Keith, much appreciated. Believe it or not I didn't intend to film or photograph here I just had a couple of hours to kill and randomly pulled into the reserve to give Raffy a walk. It was only after I spied the back lit tree (by the time I got back with my camera it was top lit) did I really consider it a great spot for photography. just gos to show always be open to new ideas and places. Have a great week 🙏🙏🙏

I believe there's no such thing as bad light. But there is misunderstood light which for those with the drive to explore it and the skill to use it, it's perfectly possible to create great images, as you've shown here. It's always worth pushing yourself out of comfort zone and try new things and you've shown the merits of doing so. I'm glad the encounter with the Brown was OK. Speaking of snakes and comfort zones, I've been having a go at photographing Adders here in blighty. They're about if you know where to look, but because they're protected there are clear limits on what one can do to photograph them. Really enjoyable video and thanks for posting.
@IzzyAbuleelaPhotography2 ай бұрын
Thank you Tony and you are absolutely correct about there never being bad light. Wow adders... they must take some tracking down. I don't think they ever get as tetchy as Australian snakes who happen to enjoy 40 degree days to boost their metabolism. All the more be careful. Have a great week 🙏🙏🙏

I think it’s great you are branching out into new areas, although I couldn’t help but laugh when, amidst a forest, you come alive once there is water, in all its forms, to photograph I hate snakes so maybe you should stick to the hazards of Rays, Great Whites and your beloved mozzies Well done Iz
@IzzyAbuleelaPhotography2 ай бұрын
Cheers Thomas, you know I think you are right... how very astute of you my man. Snakes are literally slippery little creatures, and this one had some oomph about it due to the hot weather. time to leave Raffy at home in the grass for the next few months I think. But those mozzies they are the bane of my existence, those pesky little flying piranha. Have a great week 🙏🙏🙏
@metalmick992 ай бұрын
Kudos to Raffy for not going after the snake. Someone in our area lost their dog when it challenged a snake in a nearby dog park. I really enjoy the thought of capturing something from our bush/woodlands/forests, but they are rather chaotic, and my skill level is not yet good enough. But this clip has helped immensely. And given I'm in gorge country (Armidale, NSW) holidaying, I think I just might find time to try applying some of the principles delivered here. The image at 17.21 came out marvelously well, I thought.

Cheers M, I have to say my heart didn't calm down for a little while after our snake adventure. Especially as it disappeared into the bush a little to one side of the trail ahead of me and we had no choice but to move forward. I was taking baby steps clinging to the other side of the track as we passed where it shot into the undergrowth! Enjoy the break and avoid the more toothsome of critters. Have a great week 🙏🙏🙏

Hi Izzy, some really lovely shots here today again. 15:50 and 17:20 are my favourites. Are you using the NISI landscape polariser or the standard one. I hope you always have a snakebite kit with you. Take care, Carl
@IzzyAbuleelaPhotography2 ай бұрын
Cheers carl, its the landscape CPL as for the snake bite kit like a fool I keep leaving it in the car where its of no use at all. A good reminder buddy thank you. Have a great week 🙏🙏🙏

Something different this week for sure Izzy. Pardon my ignorance but why the elevated iso when the light looks OK? Shouldn't the shutter speed be ok in that light?
@IzzyAbuleelaPhotography2 ай бұрын
Cheers Barry, its not an ignorant question at all. Some of the scenes were quite bright, but with the shadows I wanted to get as fast a shutter speed as I could. So a mix of aperture and ISO was the way to go. I can really push the ISO on the GFX without any noticeable noise. Have a great week 🙏🙏🙏
@bernym40472 ай бұрын
Very interesting. I have recently been trying my hand at woodland photography and find it rather difficult though I do seem to be gradually improving. I found shooting the waterfall in bright sunlight something of an eye-opener. The polariser made a huge difference and I noticed the rather pleasing patterns of tree branch shadows on the white water. Something new to me as I tend to shoot waterfalls in overcast light. One piece of kit I always carry when shooting waterfalls is a set of mini-crampons. Very useful for negotiating slippery, moss covered rocks on stream beds. BTW, what camera are you using?
@IzzyAbuleelaPhotography2 ай бұрын
I think you do yourself a dis-service Berny, I think you are producing some great woodland shots... practice will bring consistency and we are after all our own greatest critic. I noticed the shadow on the foam before I took the shot and wondered what the end result would be. I quite liked the effect, it seemed to add an extra dimension to the image. Good idea on crampons, I think I will have to invest in a pair shortly. Have a great week 🙏🙏🙏

@raphaelcoelho15572 ай бұрын
At that period of the day it's hard. However, I think the post processing you let some rocks and trees too flat. Luminosity masks could really improve that.

Cheers Raphael, I'll have a look at that next time I revisit these images. Have a great week 🙏🙏🙏
