What a lovely morning. When you showed the histogram for the first image it clearly indicated you didn't blow out the highlights and it also showed that you had substantial shadows. Obviously you recovered some of the shadows but how do you decide how much of the shadows you want to recover? Is it just what you feel is right? Recovering too much of the shadows always seems to create a really awkward looking image to me? In the later image for which you showed the histogram the light had brightened enough such that you didn't really have a shadow issue. Just curious how make the judgement. Beautiful images as always.
@IzzyAbuleelaPhotographyКүн бұрын
Cheers Keith, I am always careful with my first couple of images and try not to rely on the histogram 100%. The reason is that the histogram is a combined tool of red, green and blue as well as luminance. Before sunrise the amount of red light around can confuse the histogram and if you don't expose to the left (ie more shadow) you are in danger of clipping the red channel. I also know I can easily get 5 stops of light from the shadows so its a mixture of understanding the light and knowing the capabilities of your camera... phew that felt like a classroom session 😂. Have a great weekend 🙏🙏🙏

I was wondering about the fence, and how the newness of it would work with the seasoned structure: when I saw the B&W at 13:30-ish, I just thought it was wonderful! I thought it was a terrific old-and-new blend. Watching the clip, it's remarkable that the light builds so very quickly. The final image at 23 minutes captured my attention. The bulge of the not-quite-a-wave around the middle of the image led my eye along to the rocks coming in from the distant right. I liked it very much, and shall have to watch out for that next year when I get dispensation to visit the sea again.😉 Thanks for another wonderful clip.

Absolutely beautiful images, and your video sooo nice to watch ..... like a Sunday treat for me. I just wonder why they put this "not so nice" fence on this jetty. It's not really a big jetty and the use of timber instead would have been a lot nicer.

I really liked the composition of the dock on the one around 18:50 and all the work you put into it. The age of the wood seems to tell quite a story of the many who have gone up and down and walked there, and yet the wood looked rich at the same time, with character I guess I would say. Having the sun almost set on that one was so appropriate.
@IzzyAbuleelaPhotographyКүн бұрын
Thank you Juanita, that's what you lose when people replace old jetties for new ones. All that character is wiped out and you are ;left with something a little lifeless and boring. Thankfully that didn't happen here 😂. Have a great weekend 🙏🙏🙏

Great lessons in image composition too - just moving a little to give that perfect balance. Sorry to be so late making a comment, I did watch on Sunday! I would have been completely flumoxed with the movement of the metal railings - would have thought ME FIRST doing something wrong, then maybe the camera! Would have taken me forever to figure it out. Such a valuable lesson there though!!! Stunningly beautiful images in the end, the moodiness of the sky and the water, sublime. Aside from the photos...I also love the choices you make with the music you do for background when displaying the finished photos....Give a pat to Raffy, hope he is back to his old self.

Some beautiful images Izzy, the image at 9:16 stood out for me and the Pano at the completion was great. As I was watching you trying to capture the railings I kept thinking why haven't you noticed those stunning clouds over the rocks. Just my opinion but I found the rocks a far more interesting subject than the railings. The clouds over the rocks just before the rain were very dramatic. But who am I to judge what you want to capture. You have to pursue what speaks to you. You were fortunate in sticking around because the light was stunning after the rain passed. Your persistence paid off and you got the image with the railings you were in pursuit of, at least I hope you were satisfied. I thought it was quite nice. Beautiful images as always.

Hey Izzy. Good for you for battling on through inclement weather. It was interesting to see you playing around with the different shutter speeds of the waterfall. Particularly at your 32 mil end, a lot of of my teachings are ( when on workshops) that long exposures make less difference to the sensor when playing around with shutter beads when they are in the distance, particularly exaggerated by wider lenses. I had to look and look and look to try and see the difference between them. Quite interesting. Your last shot that you grabbed on the way back home, my favourite of the day. That's actually beautiful well done. Regards, Ewan
@IzzyAbuleelaPhotography15 күн бұрын
Thanks for the kind words Ewan, that final shot really sums up the day for me. You are quite correct there wasn't much difference between the shorter exposures, distance tends to diminish detail, which is further compounded by perspective distortion. Have a great weekend 🙏🙏🙏

The b&w images were particularly nice though the rich greens in the color versions were very appealing as well. The foreground in the first image I think made the image.
