I live in Indiana, just to the west of Cincinnati, Ohio. Considering the size of the world, I'm neighbors with Chicago. It's still not a distance that I can easily travel at my convenience, however, so I haven't been able to see experience her personally. As luck would have it, my high school choir is traveling to Chicago for two weeks to perform at various spots around the city. One of them will be a subway that's usually crawling with people on their way to work, and vacant at any other time of the day. I've shown my choirmates her videos, and we've all been hoping and praying that by some miracle, we'll catch her while she's playing. If we can't hear her ourselves, we've decided that giving her our gratitude and expressing our admiration will be enough. My choir has a coin jar to collect tips when we go busking (we never put it out until someone offers us a tip, then we set it out until we've sung a few more songs before we put it away again) and a couple of my friends have started bringing in the tips they've earned from their jobs to give to Slim. The rest of the choir tagged in, and soon my entire high school (student population of roughly 1,300) had been introduced to Slim and donating their own money. We've raised, at the time of me posting this, $457.45 that we plan to bring to Chicago with us in case we find Slim. Every penny will be given to her. Along with the money, many students have written her letters about the inspiration she is to them. We know that we may not see her, or if we do and we offer her our donation, she is likely to decline it with the good heart she has. If that happens, my school has arranged to have it donated anonymously. It took a lot of work, but everything has been decided, set, and confirmed. My choir leaves in three days, and our first of six performances in a subway is in five. Fingers crossed that our hard work pays off.

I found this song late last night browsing through amazing street/subway performances out of boredom from COVID quarantine. Don't know why but this performance touched my soul. I’m doing a guitar unit in music, you learn the first few notes, strings, basics, your like ok this is pretty eazy, then you gotta play those notes quickly, it gets very hard, I hear professionals play it now and I’m just blown away at how good they are, why they are professional. To be able to hear certain lyrics and turn them into a version of your own passion is so special. People don’t understand the effort and skill it takes to turn one huge hit song into a better version of itself. Same way jimi re played all along the watchtower and made that his own after Dylan wrote it.
@c0nD13375 жыл бұрын
Don't forget she did this all on a 12-string Guitar
@mosley34854 жыл бұрын
Playing a 12 string is no different from a 6 string. If you can play a 6 string, you can play a 12 string. It's the exact same thing, except the strings are in pairs which are slightly different pitches. The only thing that's more difficult is tuning it. The guitar here is really nothing special. It's her voice that makes this performance.
@queenmacapplebiteme4 жыл бұрын
O..how many strings do u need? Lol
@mosley34854 жыл бұрын
QwertyCore They really aren’t any more difficult to play. A 12 string guitar is designed such that normal fingering will work just fine. That shouldn’t take anything away from her performance. It’s still great. Just stating facts...
