I have that very same tugboat (uv) and I love it. I like it because Im not doing any tricks. Im just a cruiser. Hop a few curbs, some slides but thats it. Im 50yrs old in Ausgust (😆most cant tell) and I mostly ride a electric cruiser now (Wowgo 3X). I got this board because I have big feet 😜 so it more comfortable for me to ride when Im in the mood to kick-push. Yeah, Im getting old but Im not dead yet so I'll ride till I die.✌🏿

I love the agility and the ease of turning in these guys. I've got a tugboat and it's so fun to ride. The major downside is the speed; I have trouble catching up with casual longboards on the street, but other than that it's pretty nice

Been trying to learn to skateboard on a 7.75 popsicle deck and it's been highly recommended I go bigger. Since I'm not interested in learning any tricks any time soon nd am mainly interested in cruising, I've been eyeing cruisers, and this one in particular. It SOUNDS like this might be a good board for someone just starting out.

I would love to see a review of the Shape 9. It's a cool alternative that's between the Dingy and the Tugboat with a slightly wider base (8.5") than the Dinghy (8"). It uses the same truck and wheel setup as the Dinghy so it's easy to transfer out decks without issue.

Good review. I'd long been interested in a Tugboat but since Landyachtz boards all cost more in Europe due to import fees I didn't end up feeling like the deck shape was special enough to justify it. Landyachtz makes good stuff but I couldn't talk myself into thinking of the Tugboat as '200 Euro good' instead of exploring domestic alternatives. I ended up spending more than 200 on my cruiser board but most of it went to the local lads instead of being eaten up by the logistics costs of making decks in china, shipping them to be assembled in the US and then shipped to Europe, so I feel pretty okay with it. I do own a Dinghy Blunt Fender. The pressed wheel flares are probably divisive but I love them and they were just the extra feature that convinced me to get it, since it's uncommon on boards of that size.

I’m really want get a cruiser but still want the ability to do tricks like a traditional board. Landyachtz offers 2 different models with the UV Bengal. They have the (Setup 1 Polar Bear 155mm trucks and 60mm 78a EZ Hawgs -- Stable and slidy setup.) and the (Setup 2 Polar Bear 130mm trucks and 63mm 78a Fatty Hawgs -- Maneuverable and fast rolling setup.). If you swap out the 60mm EZ wheels for the 63mm FATTY, the wheels would pop out more to the sides. Is it bad to have the wider trucks paired with the larger wider wheels? With the Tugboat Wolf, it uses 155mm trucks with 63mm EZ Hawgs.

Hmmm I'm not aware of specific brands that ship to the eu. I'm also not too familiar with dancing boards since I haven't done that type yet. Sorry I can't really help you here

So I saw that you said you want to try other reviews. Look up faceplant boardriders on etsy. They have a board called the mini stick which is 29.75" by 6.5" wide. It is very similar to a penny board but it is made out of maple. I wanted to see if you could compare to the penny. $139.00 plus $25 shipping. I recently bought their rocket fish board and I really enjoy it wanted you to review the mini stick rob and the gang have been making boards for years cool company thanks.

Careful putting bigger wheels on the tugboat wheel bite is more of a problem than on the Dinghy
@Bflo23
@Bflo23 2 жыл бұрын
It has to be more dangerous for wheel bite just based on the physics but also if you put the larger wheels on the wider 155mm trucks. I think I would prefer the smaller wheels. The tugboat wolf uses 63mm wheels with the 155mm trucks but they are the 63mm ez hawgs (not fatty hawg wheels).

I ended up getting a dugout compared to the tugboat just bc it’s a bit longer and someone else recommended it

Wanted to comment after owning this keyboard for almost a year. Gosh dang I'm a size 10, and as someone who didn't want to carry around a long board but wanted plenty of space to move my feet all over the board, I love this thing. He's right, the concave grips you, the tail is comfortable to use. And the trucks/bearings are doing super well. Only issue is that the decals on the board were sent to me fucked up. The grip wasn't the one I ordered, and the decal on the bottom was sanded through, and much larger than it was advertised. The grip tape I ordered was supposed to have leaves outlined all over it. very sad. They gave me a coupon but uhhhh why would I buy another product after that.

What is your opinion on switching out wheels(63mm) on modern tugboat(with reverse kingpen bear 6 130mm) for 72mm plow king and riser.

Can you get the model with 155mm trucks and still put 63mm wheels or would you need the 130s for that

How much difference is between using 60mm and 63mm wheels in this board? Using 60mm reduce wheelbite?

Did you change out the wheels to 63? If so, was there any wheel bite?

Any experience with Rayne Panther/Minitour or Tiger cruiser boards ? Rayne's are a little bit bigger than the Tugboat but cheaper. Can't really find reviews for these models specifically unfortunately.

I used to surf skate on my tugboat, no surf adapters, just loose trucks, and it was super fun until the trucks fell off bc of how loose they are so... i recomend an actual surfskate if u want to surfskate
@concrete-waves
@concrete-waves 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's some good advice. There's a reason why surfskates are much wider... definitely will want more deck space compared to the Tugboat

Good vids man, thanks, def getting some education here. I am thinking about Tugboat, but am curious what alternatives are there in this size/purpose? I am sick of hearing about dinghy, much smaller board. Curious about Tugboat vs Omakase, although that is bigger. What other boards like Tugboat are there? Asking for a middle aged fat dad wanting to get back into cruising ;)

@@concrete-waves yeah I think covering each significant part at least somewhat then how they work together then likes dislikes and then maybe what the board is best used for would be a good summary and in-depth review without droning on Keep up the good work though 🙏
