One important reason this video is very helpful - and the video series in general. When you're a noob, everyone on forums has a set idea (or a too vague idea) of the relative levels of kick and bass. When you listen to an artist speak freely, you begin to really enjoy the freedom of production that forum chats may deny because of the compactness of how people discuss a subject. For example, for ages I thought that the sub layer of my bass had to be MAXIMUM 3dB quieter than the sub part of the kick (or even louder). But that is completely untrue if you think of it as some rule for hard-hitting or dramatic techno. It took me 2 years of experimenting before suddenly realizing what Daniel did with the bass being -18dB. And it brought me to a wonderful place where the sub bass still adds huge heft after I've turned it down and turned up the growly mid bass part. I only wish I had seen this 2 years ago...

Guys this is brilliant - more please! Quite often when you're listening to a track you're not thinking that Ableton Live is at the heart of it, and yet there it is, good old arrangement view, and as always there are plenty of tricks to be learnt.

Point Blank, thanks a lot for this! It's very re-assuring to see how many of my own thought processes during production are very similar to those of well established producers out there. It let's me know I'm on the right track. :)
