What I'm trying to say is the solid state amps I've purchased have met and or exceeded all my needs from an amplifier. It really is an awsome time to be a musician. The current (make in the UK!) Lionheart amp is absolutely fantastic and this pedal seems indistinguishable from the valve amp. It does do cleans very well (not Fender cleans, more Vox-y) but the overdrive channel is also fantastic, and with a boost can get well into hard rock territory - it's an extraordinarily versatile amp. I think Laney have been a bit ignored so it's good to see them getting some exposure - they really are doing amazing things, and they seem to have been very successful in re-shoring their manufacture from the Far East.

okay so I DO see the additional funtionality of these: IR loader with an app, midi switching, reverb built in, that's all real useful stuff for live gigging musicians - and made in the UK is a nice additional feature as well. however, I feel like the Ironheart isn't a major upgrade to the first gen loudpedal, for half the price, at least for most use cases: playing into a cab in the backline and having the xlr out as additional thing-y. Goes to show how great of a deal that thing already was. Of course, if you're the kind of player who does not use cabinets anymore and are invested in IRs very much, then this thing is a no brainer. IR loader AND midi switcher for setting up tones with different IRs is a ridicolously cool feature that gives you so much range.

You really don't want an AC mains cable on your pedalboard.
@nihilistlivesmatter7 ай бұрын
@@nstrug You will already have one as the external PSU has 240 AC going into it anyhow...there is no good reason to not have a mains lead on your board.
@nstrug7 ай бұрын
@@nihilistlivesmatter Induced mains hum is a real problem - run a mains cable parallel to your patch cables and close to pedals (plastic pedals such as Danelectro and Behringer are particularly sensitive) and you'll soon find out. There's also the issue of routing - an IEC plug and a mains cable will greatly limit the positioning of the pedal on the board. An external PSU keeps the AC well away from the instrument-level signal to minimise hum.
@nihilistlivesmatter7 ай бұрын
@@nstrug Not really the ground of your patch cables are designed to alleviate hum...those pedal will get interference from many sources...there is a reason boss MXR etc use metal boxes The seymour duncan, victory & blackstar have mains inputs...I've have a matchless preamp pedal running off mains & carl martin quatrro has mains also Hum is not a problem...having a flimsy easy to break easy to lose PSU with a uncommon 24dc output is a far bigger potential problem

Class D is digital, however the name was chosen. The input is converted to a PWM signal triggering MOSFETs at very high frequency, and that signal is low-pass filtered to produce the output.
