The obvious question is why aren’t you a fan of Lang Lang? He’s brilliant on the piano, and charming and humble as a person, or at least he’s a great actor while lacking charm and humility. And if his playing is anything less than superb, I haven't heard it.

@@blogleftbanker All true! His interpretations have been "weird," like he doesn't understand what the piece is supposed to say. Remember him playing ONE with Metallica - it was a jaw dropping display of virtuosity that completely missed the entire mood and tone of the song. He was grinning ear to ear from start to finish. Usually an ardent detractor, this time, I am praising this performance as possibly the best example of playing Mozart on the piano. Mozart can be appreciated at different levels. He is taking care of all these. The sounds he coaxes from this half a million dollar 'designer' piano are lovely, but what impresses is the imagination behind every phase and, rare for Dr Lang, capturing the right style in a self-effacing way. As he is enormously influential, especially to young learners, I only wish he would pronounce 'Mozart' correctly.

@timspiano505411 ай бұрын
@@richardvolpe7664 I do think that Lang Lang's passion as well as his dynamic range and pedalling makes a great impact on this Mozart piece. I definitely agree that Lang Lang is an amazing pianist, and this piece might be easy for him but the extra details he adds and dynamics can be quite hard for many pianists. It also is very hard to achieve such a difficult level of performance for many pianists, such as myself. So I admire his skill for the instrument 😃 P.S. He obviously put the work effort into the piece and he probably repeated until each execution of the notes were perfect. So that is why it is incredible and so effortless for him. Well done Lang Lang 😊
@richardvolpe766411 ай бұрын
Passion? In this cheerful little piece? Lang's use of dynamic shadings (and forget the pedalling thing!) isn't the least bit unusual for any skilled pianist. The demands made by this "Easy Sonata" (as Mozart himself labeled it) are about as minimal as can be, so don't be so impressed by this performance, the "excellence" of which could be easily attained by any well-taught pianist.
