PS - Korean is always a challenge for THIS reason - like it's maybe logical with grammar BUT it's spoken with many blurred sounds and consonant/vowels that are spoken so FAST. and i'm just like, ok i thought i understood the korean book but then i can't understand crap without subtitles. what a nice analogy of a language being like 'grandma's cooking.'

oh, i agree with you on many points here! I LOVE the Turkish language it's just gorgeous, and I agree - having worked overseas I can tell you, being a native English speaker and especially from the UK or US is quite lucrative! i don't know anything about swedish but now you mention it here, sounds like it must also be a very pretty language! is it really that easy in terms of grammar? lol noooo turkish is easy grammar!!! compared to Hungarian, even the Slavic languages they scare me lol. I heard that Bulgarian doesn't have the case system whereas the other Slavic languages do...I think Turkish has a lot of grammar but it's not difficult as there's a logic to it. Now German may have less grammar in comparison but none of it strikes me as intuitive it's like just memorize it, lol.

I speak English, Spanish, and almost French fluently...i understand Italian and Portuguese but can't respond in them. Ever since I started learning Mandarin I stopped saying that certain languages are hard to learn and started saying that they have things that are uniquely different from English. Mandarin Chinese really isn't hard to get used to.... I can't speak on the writing part but as far as learning the tones and getting used to how the characters look, it isn't impossible to get used to. Another thing is that most English (obviously not us) speakers are too entitled with not being forced to learn another language. So as soon as they see one little thing that is different from English they become sensitive crybabies without realizing that many people have learned English successfuly and speak languages that are has its unique differences from English. I think the other thing is that for English has too many unused words. Its funny how most English only speakers will say it's hard to learn a new language yet their language always has a new word....but I think because English has too many words that with new comers they may assume that they will need to learn that many words in the new language without realizing that a language like Spanish, Italian, or French don't require that many words in order to be fluent.
