You can find my semi-canon phylogeny here: tinyurl.com/OceanPhylo - The LDPI obviously doesnt exist under that name in-universe. But the Guild is mentioned to be taking precautions against the Dragon. - It is unclear if you would actually be able to see the strata in a Lao's shell, but based on what we know about it, I figured that is a pretty safe assumption.

"And all without a shred of malice" That's Lao in a nutshell. It's just going on its merry way, unconcerned with or even unaware of the destruction it causes. Perhaps if a person could truly communicate with Old Mountain Dragons, they could convince them to take more care in where they step, and thus remove the need for conflict with them.

It's in Generations Ultimate on the Switch, so you're always able to go and give it a try there. Alternatively, emulating older games its in is incredibly easy, though personally I find that those versions of the fight are a bit too barebones to be super enjoyable. I've always found the very similarly structured siege that came out in MH2 (against a different monster called Shen Gaoren) to be way better.

I'm rarely excited to see a lot of the in-depth lore as much as I am for these. The effort and detail that both, you put into these videos, and the devs put into the monsters and the world is amazing. I'm loving learning these little details, and for a few of these creatures, I'm loving the fact that I can notice them in Monster Hunter World. The unredacted extension of this episode might show us why a certain Lao Shen Lung was on the move. This individual in the Schrade region had decided to abandon its territory following a heated confrontation between a hunter's natural predator and a crafty golden mantis that was attracted to the treasures of the fallen kingdom.

Excellent timing, I just got up to G2 in GU, so my first proper encounter with good ole Lao is nebulously soon. Big fellas have always been a soft spot for me personally, yeah they’re a massive departure from normal gameplay, take an eternity to complete, all that jazz, but there’s something so inherently cool about fighting something that large, something that simply couldn’t care less about you otherwise, and proceeding to give it a reason.

8:18 Whereas Zorah Magdaros' Shell is instead rock that it has molten onto itself via the use of its Magmacores, or perhaps a rocky substance excreted from its magmacores after being melted within its body somehwere. Further research must be done, and I urge The 5th Fleet to recover the corpse of the Zorah Magdaros it tracked for an in-depth study, however, I understand it may be simply too large, and for now, leaving Elder Dragons as simply a mystery is perfectly acceptable, given how mysterious they and their abilities typically are. Still, I cannot help but wonder how Zorah Magdaros' Shell differs from its relative.

Dang, we really need the return of colossal monster. I remember having fun hunting him together with my friend on Freedom Unite. All the colossal monster is fun with friend, kinda clunky hunting it solo. Some idea that i can think of making colossal monster hunt even better is first, combining it with tweaked Rampage mechanic, in this case give us the ability of summoning turret mount by NPC and special NPC, and in the end is the Dragonator and Wyvernshot. It can make the battle much more dynamic i think, working together with other hunter on the village/base to stop the giant monster. The second is maybe doing something like Siege from World/Iceborne, but instead of 16 hunter on 4 team on their separate screen, it's 16 hunter on 4 team on the same screen, or if it risk the game lagging, either reducing the foliage on the map, making it more simple or maybe reducing it to 8 hunter on 2 team on the same screen. I'm sure it will be fun hunting with other team, especially if you play with your friend, where you have some mission to play with more than 4 people, while the usual hunt you need to cycle? your friend because of the 4 hunter limit

looking at the gameplay vs the lore really makes you feel like lao shen should be far larger than the gameplay can show, perhaps equalling zorah magdaros in size, i mean to be so big to crush villages without noticing, it has to be bigger than the gameplay thats just a dragon the size of a big building, he could easily see what hes crushing and the small creatures(humans) in its way

7:26 pity. i believe Capcom wasted Lao Shan Lung's potential back in GU. to start, Monster Hunter Online gave him weapons he didn't have before, but Ashen did - like the SnS. secondly, since he was, basically, the introduction to the Dragon element, why didn't they give him an attack that inflicted it? even Fatalis can apply Dragonblight, and that was through his BITE! (i discovered that by accident, but i'm glad i did) why not give Lao Shan Lung a *breath attack - that'd look like cold breath (aka your breath becoming visible in the winter) - and have it inflict Dragonblight? hopefully, if he returns in Wilds, we'll get both (well, *I* hope so). i want to actually like this dragon. *i know what you're thinking: "he shouldn't. why would he even need it?" answer? Nergigante. let me start with this: Anjanath, Jyuratodus, Pukei Pukei and Tobi Kadachi. 3 monsters from the New World now roam the Flooded Forest (the map where all 4 can spawn in, hence why it's my example), an Old World map; and Nergigante hung around Zorah Magdaros - another giant dragon, and Ruiner managed to kill Shara Ishvalda (even if the latter had no rock armour). i have no doubt that Nergigante would be discovered in the Old World, and i'm convinced that he'd attack a Lao Shan Lung. lorewise, Nergigante is a good reason as to why Lao Shan Lung would have that breath attack: self defense. Nergigante's secondary weakness is Dragon. and let me remind you that Gravios and Black Gravios, who have arguably the toughest shells in 4U (excluding Apex monsters), also have a condensed heat laser for a breath attack. why would they need it if their defenses are so great? Akantor - whom we saw *kill* a Gravios - took said laser to the face, and it didn't affect him that much (and i'm convinced he's immune to fire). at least Lao Shan Lung's Dragonblight cold breath makes *some* sense.
