I thought Laos is a tropical country. Why are you wearing long sleeves shirt and long pants? I thought everyone wears shorts and t-shirts to keep cool.

@@OS253 haha I thought this too... now I have been in Southeast Asia for 18 months so 30 degree Celsius feels more like 20 degrees. In the north and in higher elevations the difference can be 10 Celsius or more. The night time temp can drop to 10 degrees so the mornings and night are cold. I stayed in Laos during its winter, if you came here from cold Europe, you would feel very hot. Our bodies get used to the heat though. So yeah it’s hot, but can be a lot cooler in the mountains and we feel the cold more when it’s still relatively very warm to my home in uk.

Thanks Craig that was pretty accurate. I would challenge you on one thing and that is in using Agoda. They take 18% of what ever you give them which gets tacked onto your bill by the G/H owner. My advise is never arrive after about 2pm, or book in advance. Laos is awash in accommodation where ever you go.

Is there ATM machines around, easy to locate?

There are atm machines in all the towns and cities. It $2 charge at the BCEL atms and we always take out the max of 1.5 million kip ($150) per withdrawal to save on fees. 😊

I’m 19 itching for an adventure , I have 5k saved up . I might sell my truck too and just go backpacking for as long as I can . I think south east Asia is my best bet idk tho

South east Asia is the best place if you’ve never travelled before. Really not very dangerous at all in terms of people. There’s a freedom here you’ll only experience if you come. At 19 I wish I just went travelling tbh make sure you have something to come back to. Something you can build your income with. You’re so young that if you have parents you can just go and stay with them after travelling to save some money up.

@@bomjen1681 the country is open internally as if Covid doesn’t exist. There was a 3 month lockdown last year but pretty much the only noticeable thing is that the borders are closed.
