Last time I was in Beijing, my in-laws mentioned that the smog would go away because now the heat to the apartment blocks they lived in was being supplied by a new natural gas plant. The smell of coal in the air is distinctive and visibility was about 1/4 mile, if that. I could stare directly into the sun without discomfort and it was most definitely coal smog. Got up one morning and decided to explore a nearby skyscraper that contained a Starbucks in the lobby. After my coffee, I went to the elevator and punched a random floor. The floor was empty. Punched another random floor. Empty. Went to the very top floor to see if I could catch a view. Top floor was empty, too, but I did catch a view of the local power plant that supplied heat for the local apartment blocks. It was burning coal and there was a massive pile of coal sitting next to it. When in China, I refrain from speaking my mind about what I see. Even home, I've found that it is impossible to discuss China with my wife. I, literally, know more about the history of her country than she does. Worse, the CCP has successfully fused the identities of individual Chinese people with that of the government and China, in general. In other words, criticize China, you are criticizing Chinese people, personally. So bizarre.

A top soccer player named Hao Haidong experienced all these. He was the player who scored the most goals in the national team and still holds the record until now. The record was erased because he participated in forming an organization against CCP in the US. (In fact it was a fraudulent organization, no better than the CCP) The new top scorer (Wu Lei) did not score more goals. But everything Hao had was wiped out in this way.His name became a curse that would not come out of the mouths of Chinese commentators.

The reason why this worked the longest because it plays on the dissatisfaction of Americans toward the president/current status of the government. A lot of Americans comment how China has the balls to do something like securing the border, even though they have never traveled outside the country.

Toilets/Bathroom are filthy and disgusting in enormous Chinese public hospitals in middle to poor class neighbourhoods in all over China, These public hospitals, I've visited my self for treatment and for one or two of my poorer sick Chinese girlfriends, These are Chinese citizens only and never ever should or has been visited by a foreigner like me, I personally also had the same experience in a public hospital in the middle of Shenzhen My health insurance had expired and People lying in the hallways and had obviously been there for days and these were extremely sick people, I was for obvious reasons offered a bed in the hallway I declined and also lay in the hallway I never while traveling ever let people treat me as having more importance just because I'm a westerner, I stayed on the floor on a drip for three days, Nurses were crazily dressed like hookers, The doctors smoking, I was offered takeaway food while Chinese patients were given a Watery soup, It was obvious that I was only let into the hospital in the first place because I speak Chinese and choose this hospital because it was public and the cheapest no foreigners would ever find let alone come to this enormous public hospital in shenzhen for Chinese citizens only, It also helped that my visa was an extremely rare and hard to get multiple entry fives years stay with no restrictions, And did not take any notice of the authorities orders or request or restrictions, I absolutely all over China to the poorest rural areas were people create enormous crowds around because they never seen foreigner, To finish China and it's poverty is worse then my travels in Africa, The poverty in Africa is different because people in Africa feel the suffering and poverty and know they are in poverty, Whereby in China people in poverty believe they are doing fine and are well off and thank the government for even being alive 😢😢

Lately I start to think of the dynamic between the US and the Chinese comparison as the Americans have a broken leg while the Chinese have cancer. While our problems tend to be more exposed, we will be better off knowing about it so we can fix it and heal properly. Whereas cancer is undetected until it’s too late and the damage has been done. We’re at a point where the Chinese are too late in addressing their issues and it is going to play a part of the fall of their country, but the question is how is Americans will go about fixing our problems. Will we continue to walk on this broken leg that we heal disformed? Or are we going to have the serious talk of taking the time to fix our issues? I think we are finally at a point where Americans are starting to have the important conversations to address our issues and quit burying our heads in the sand, or continue to hobble on a broken leg. And this is why free speech MATTERS.

When I was in Beijing I went to the Japanese Chinese Friendship hospital and yes you do have to pay up front but I have to say the service was good and when they drew blood they used one of those old fashioned glass syringes and a needle that looked as big as a railroad spike but I swear the nurse was so good I never even felt the needle! On the other hand once I had to go to an old hospital in Beijing that looked like it was built in the 30's and I saw what I believe was an aid bringing packets of gauze which is only wrapped by one brown wrapper exposing over 50% of the gauze and she dropped one on that nasty 90 year old floor and just picked it up and stocked it with the rest! I went there for a consultation on vasectomy reversal I didn't go back, then I did go to a fairly new hospital that was awesome with the latest technology run just like an American hospital and all the doctors are western trained and the one I saw spoke perfect English! All this happened in 2005-2006 so I have no idea if the western style hospital is still even open it was expensive for the average Chinese citizen and they weren't busy at all when I went there for the consultation.

We used to send our recycling there because it was cheaper to sort it in China than the USA. 2017/2018 CCP "National Sword Policy" laws refused most plastics(many type 1 and 2 as well). CN factories were getting paid to sort the recycling and melt it back into pellets, not burn it and pretend they sorted it. Your own national sword policy was made in response to your irresponsible disposal of imported recyclables. Every single milk jug that ends up in China was carefully separated and often washed by a mom(or dad) in the USA who was trying to save the environment. Then you just burn them?! Don't high-road me. In 2017, China announced the National Sword policy, which imposed strict contamination limits on imported recyclables. In 2018, China implemented a ban on the import of certain types of solid waste, including many plastics and mixed paper. WRONG BUT HE LEAVES OUT PROPERTY TAXES AND HOA FEES THAT ALL STOCK COOPERATIVES MUST PAY. Add in the 70 years he stated and you pay $10.8+ million dollars extra in the course of 70 years in property taxes, home insurance and HOA/Stock Cooperative fees for a total of US$12+ million, does that sound affordable to anyone making $70,000?! I’m not even looking at rent which this guy ignored which goes for US8,000+ monthly in NYC city centre for a family which is 6.7+ million in the same 70 years. On point number 4, I have a neighbor I took to the er to have a splinter removed, it was free for him, it was easy and could have killed him (via infection) unattended. So yes our healthcare sucks, but they dont allow people to stay sick and hurt, at least not in my town. I asked and they have a program where people can donate (the doc donated his time) to help people without insurance. So it's not free healthcare but we, in my town, are able to help others without money being a priority.

We shouldn't be too cocky tho. America is so lost right now. It's become so unaffordable & dysfunctional. Our country is capable of greatness. Our gov. seems to have zero interest in improving these issues & the lives of its citizens. Our cities feel disconnected, soulless, bland, unaffordable, etc. I really don't like the direction modern America has gone. We could do so much better. I love this country. I just want to see things improve. The 90's at least had a range of prices & places where people could live, unique things to do & places to go. Poor People, middle, upper class. There was places for people of all economic ranges ~Nowadays we have universally unaffordable cost of living, rent prices, shop rent prices.. (unless you are wealthy) I don't understand how long we can continue to function in this extremely dysfunctional manner?? I hope things change. People stuck in poverty need places to live too.. it's ridiculous how our current system pretty much requires everyone to be financially well off or you are screwed 👍🏻 It's so realistic 👍🏻 it's completely impossible for everyone to be financially well off. We need living options. We need places that average people can live, poor people can live.. Raising wages just continually makes things worse because our country says "it Has to increase things" So it does nothing but make things worse. We need places people can live even if they make below average $ (look at all the rent prices right now? The same goes for the rent of local small businesses too. It's absurd. I know this because my mom runs a local small business in Oregon. So that's 2 insane rents to pay per month! It's the biggest challenge to afford rent. Profit isn't even a thing. Its can we make it to next month? How stupid is that? What kind of quality of life is that?) This is Modern Day America 👍🏻 and when you look at our government, it doesn't seem like anything is going to be addressed or improved anytime soon.. Maybe multiple generations from now, idk? All i know is vast change needs to be done. I'm tired of either side of our government. None of it is working. Hopefully motivated people will come in & help adapt this amazing country so it doesn't collapse in on itself. I don't get how our current situation can be acceptable?

The Chinese people are burdened with large debt(much higher than USA or EU) as the CCP stimulates the economy by encouraging them to spend vast amounts of borrowed money. That worked for a couple of years, but now hundreds of millions of Chinese have almost nothing to spend because most of their wages are going towards paying back loans for the next 10-30 years or so. And the worst thing is that many of them used that money to buy real estate that turned out to be so bad they couldn't live in them, those houses are worth nothing. Some buildings have already been demolished, they never lived in their new homes. 😢

Another channel reported on Chinese workers who buy new cars that will only be driven on new year to impress family. They make payments while the car rots. There seems to be an eagerness to take on debt blindly. Debt is a new thing in recent years. Chinese society had always been poor but suddenly you could sign some papers and "be rich".

About a dozen years ago, I spent 4 weeks in Hong Kong for work, both on the Hong Kong island and the mainland. One of the things I noticed and was asked about by my Hong Kong coworkers is smiling. I noticed that nobody in Hong Kong smiled in public. I took public transportation everywhere...and the throngs of dour faces were telling. My Hong Kong coworkers asked me why I smied all the time. So I showed them pictures of my life at home in suburbia USA. My vehicles I owned, the two houses I owned. My vacations to Hawaii and other exotic places. my gardens at moth of my homes. I told them about my daily life...doing exactly what they were doing in Hong Kong for a living..yet I had this lifestyle and they lived like they did in Hong Kong, most lived in shoebox apartments in the Hong Kong slums. And here's the kicker...My salary wan't really that much higher than theirs...comparatively speaking...It's just that their cost of living is so high in Hong Kong, they live like poor people. whereas I live in the richest county in the USA and I live like an upper middle class person.

A few things impossible not to notice about China that you can't really fathom before you've been there even if you know about it, and the US doesn't have to deal with: -massive numbers of people standing around in pretty much every public space; extra people for pretty much everything. -every few hours travel people are speaking a different language or a dialect so different it is unintelligible to neighbors. -the pollution but also the "nothing can be done" attitude towards the problem and the myriad justifications for being dirty. -the fact that traveling to different areas of the country is like traveling through time. -the palpable anxiety, of a people who have mass starvation, civil war, occupation and Communist revolution all within living memory, and where sudden changes often mean you have to scramble with ten thousand other people all of a sudden before the door closes or whatever and your life gets worse or is over.

I believe it is. My Russian friend returned recently after living in Vietnam with me for a few years. She was always down on Russia (and still admits there aren't many opportunities for well paid work), but she was amazed at how spotless everything was in Moscow on her visit. She sent me a continuous stream of videos and photos - and she is not one to propagandize - I know for a fact her dream is to live in Australia. Places can be clean and well run, but still have other issues. Singapore would perhaps be a better comparison - or Tokyo. Even then, both of those places also have flaws - however, Americans are too willing to accept dirtiness and depravity in their streets, and are constantly deflecting.
