He was a frequent visitor to Anantapur till his death. I feel blessed to see him 5 to 6 times at Lalitha Kala Parishath an open air theatre at Anantapur in 70s. During 60s n 70s drama troupes from Tenali used to visit Anantapur in their Rayalaseema circuit after visiting Proddutur , Cuddapah n from here they used to go to Kurnool. The troup used to come in a bus.He used to be part of those troupes. This was an annual affair . Connoisseurs amateur artistes n fans of Padhya natakam from the entire district used to throng to the venue. It used to go from 10.00 PM in the night to early hours till 6.00 AM. People who were unlucky to get the tickets used to sit outside n listen to the rendering of poems. There used to be lathi charge on gate crashers. Such was the popularity of these Padhya Natakams. His name drew mind boggling crowds in those days when there was little transportation , eateries etc. People of that generation really miss the likes of Elapaata Raghuramaiah , Peesapaati , Shanmukhi Anjaneya Raju etc etc and Padhya Natakams. Once you like them it's like addiction and where ever you are it will drag you leaving everything whatever may be the costs. We miss your Eelapaata.
