Listening to you describe some of the details and the excitement in your voice reminds me of a line from the movie "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" when Slartibartfast said he enjoyed creating the "fiddly bits" around the fiords in Norway. I imagine God must must've had the same feeling of exhilaration during the Creation as you do when you create your masterpieces. You are truly a goddess of the pour!

Miss Deby I also paint on tiles. I use from home depot 8' 1 x1s wood strips @ 98 cents each. then I cut them into 5" or 6" strips glue them on the back of tile with liquid nails or wood glue depending on tile size/weight. Then I paint the whole back with a solid color which gives it a nice finish. And then can hang on the wall.. Not sure of the cost of your stands but one 8' strip will service 6 tile paintings or more. Thanks for what you share :):).

Thanks for the idea. These tiles are so heavy that I'm really nervous about that, in case over time the glue comes away and it comes crashing to the ground, breaking whatever is underneath. Glue doesn't always hold up well here because of the heat and humidity. But I think they would look lovely hung on the wall, with that space behind. Some day I may pluck up the courage.

awesome job Deby - it looks fantastic... I presume this is a floor tile, rather than a wall tile? It's HUGE lol... you were very brave putting it up on that flimsy looking plastic stand - I hope hubby helped... imagine if you'd dropped the tile and it smashed :-( x

It was in the wall tile section of the store so I think it was still designed for that. Might be too slick for the floor. And yes I was imagining that and the flying razor sharp shards of tile as I was moving it about!

This was gorgeous, but I wonder if you would change the process a bit were you to do it again? That is start with a border of white and do the edges with white paint, before the center pourings... I've changed my pratice to do canvas edges and corners with one of the colors I'm using, or gold, before I do a pour or flip - mind you, I've only been at this a week -- but I like the improved movement and not having to worry about the edges -- and seeing the overpour over a painted edge

Absolutely, I've since changed up my process too and am often painting the edges and corners before I start. Especially with something like this where you aren't going to be tipping the paint over the sides.

Beautiful!!! Have you thought about using compressed air for cleaning keyboards! I have used that in the past and it worked great!! It's a lot cheaper than an air gun! Also have you ever poured resin on top? Love your work!

Oh this one took a long time to dry right through to the center. About a week. But I think I left it 6 weeks before cleaning and varnishing just to be very sure.

I want to do something like this on metal, will that work. I will put down 2 layers of gesso in white then one more in a color before doing the pour. Let me say how much I love your work and I am so thankful for the demos.

Love it. Colours are amazing. I also work a lot on tiles but have never used acrylics/silicone on tiles. Does it stick? I would have thought it would just peel off? I've used Pebeo products in the past but I'm keen to try your techniques. Thanks for sharing.

Just make sure the surface is clean and grease-free before pouring, and use a good sealer afterwards and it should be fine. So reason for the paint to peel off unless you picked at it I think. Mine have all been fine.

Hi Deby. Many thanks. Can you recommend a good varnish/gloss. I've bought the Winsor & Newton Gloss spray varnish but I'm looking for something that will give me a high gloss finish. Something a bit more like the look of resin. Do you know of anything please? I think something like that would also look great on the tiles as it will bring out the shine and also protect it. :)

Hi Deby, I searched your shop site but I couldn't find any of the ceramic tiles you use. Where do you get them from especially the large one that you use in this video? Can you buy them in bulk? I buy my tiles in the local DIY store here, just regular economy bathroom tiles. You will most likely be able to get them from a tile supplier locally to you too. So ar I've not had any trouble with the paint coming off, but I do make sure to use 3 coats of a glossy sealer. Thanks for your kind comments Pat

Yes, I mix many of the paints in advance and keep them in the bottles. I mix in a jug, the paint, medium, and water. Then strain the lot into the bottle and add 10-12 drops of silicone oil. Pop the top on and the paint keeps perfectly. These are the bottles I use - amzn.to/2tycRAC

Once the paint is dry, the silicone doesn't affect it, but I do wipe it off the surface before adding the glossy finish or it might casue it to separate.

Yes the tiles are glossy and sealed before I use them, not pourous. Like regular bathroom tiles.

Here I go posting before the video is done again. lol I have a suggestion for you, as I have done the blowing through the straw also, get a funnel and hook it to your hair dryer to do the blowing for you. Saves you the light headedness and oxygen deprevasion. lol

Deby at Acrylic Pouring that's where a funnel comes in handy. you hook it to the hair dryer or hold it in place. and because the tip of the funnel is narrow, like a staw, you have more control. You did awesome. I would have passed out. lol

Yes I did add silicone to all of the paints except the white for the background I think. It was a long time ago now so I don't rightly remember, but I never add a lot of oil. Just a couple of drops per color usually.

I am a beginner at this and I really love your design. I bought Spot On Treadmill belt lubricant and I am having problems giving it to make cells. I made up several cups of different colors, about 4 ozs each. I put in 3-4 drops each, did a cross stir, so not to stir it up to much, put down a black medium on the canvas. Got no cells. On my next one Did the same but used more silicone, When I stirred this time, I made 3 cross stir and still very little cells ( amount not size). Can you suggest what am I doing wrong?? Is there a chance I got some bad Spot On? Or is t just me?

I'm sure there is nothing wrong with the oil you bought. Much more likely that your paint is not the right consistency. Plus don't be too concerned about not stirring in the oil. I've always found it better to stir it into the paint well. You won't get more cells by adding more silicone. Less is more. Concentrate instead on getting the paint consistency just right and then the magic will happen.

Could be that your paints are too thin Heather. That would explain why they are mixing together more than you would like. Try making them a bit thicker.

To me this just looks like a huge muddy mess . I don't see any benefit from using blowing or swiping techniques over simply doing a dirty pour . They just seem to make the whole process longer giving the illusion of more control over the final outcome .
