Martin has done a great job with this course. Thanks to him not only have I learnt a good bunch of effective techniques but also, and mostly, a solid and versatile workflow. I highly recommend it even to advanced users who feel that their environments are lagging behind even a little bit. Thanks Martin! Keep on doing!!

Personally I use ANT just for the base mesh, then use the Terrain Nodes addon by Valeri Barashkov for erosion/terrace effects. It's waaay faster and better than the built-in erosion from ANT, both when outputing a mesh and/or the maps (like displacement, flow map, sediment map and so on). But it's not super handy for creating base meshes, so ANT still has a use case

Just a quick question ? When doing large scale environments do you make things to realise scale ? For example would those trees and mountains be scaled up to match real life proportions ?
@MartinKlekner

I usually go with 1:4 scale, sometimes smaller, Blender likes to misbehave with real world sizes in my opinion (clipping, too large values etc)

As you can see at that point the video, I've added Color Ramp right behind the Vertex Color node and brought the two edge points together to add more contrast. You can even add more points in the middle, to play around with the mid values, achieving different contrasts of your map.

How do you actually manage the scale of the scene? I see everything is actually very small. But what if we need more accuracy for an archviz project for example?
@MartinKlekner
@MartinKlekner Жыл бұрын
I have bad experience when making and rendering volumetrics for very large, world-accurate scenes. That's why I make my scenes a little bit smaller than in realworld. However, if you do archviz projects, then it is a must and I actually recommend asking someone specializing in this - for example Andrew Price (Blender Guru) is the go to person for this 🙂
