These two comics are at opposite ends of the spectrum and it's not just Larry's funny and Jay's usually not. The dialogue at about 8:00 is the perfect example. Jay pushed his way onto the tonight show basically twice, is an insecure people pleaser, will say yes to basically anything, and comes across as unauthentic. Larry on the other hand isn't afraid to say no (It took 20 years to get Larry to say yes to the tonight show) and threatened to quit Seinfeld multiple times because they wanted to change his script, hates being in the spotlight, could care less what others think of him, and never sold out.
@thetruth4188 жыл бұрын
+Miles Finnch Larry didn't "threaten" to quit multiple times he DID QUIT multiple times. Larry literally quit Seinfeld over 10 times. He also would walk off in the middle of his stand up routines, as mentioned in this clip, and he also quit the Broadway play he was doing IN THE MIDDLE of it. Larry gives absolutely no fucks about anything.

I don't think they are supposed to be competing. As a host of a talk show you let the guests talk. You're also forgetting that 80% of what guests say on these shows is rehearsed.

I just thought about a scene in Curb when a man went to talk to a lawyer about changing his will. The lawyer was dressed in an all denim outfit because it was _casual Friday_. The man got angry at the lawyer and stormed out saying he wasn't going to do business with him because he didn't feel he was dressed professionally. I wonder if that was a stab at Jay and denim clothes.

@BlaccEagle10 жыл бұрын
Aren't all interviews "rare" technically?
@michaelpeternorman10 жыл бұрын
Not really. Every interview may be unique in the sense that they are all different but that isn't the same as rare.
@OmikronGT10 жыл бұрын
Blade Blunter I think he's right. "Rare" means it doesn't happen very often, and people aren't interviewed all the time otherwise it would get boring.
@ZackKolin10 жыл бұрын
OmikronGT But it's rare in terms of interviews. Like, Jennifer Lawrence for example probably goes on, let's say, an interview a month, or maybe one every 2 months. So she had 6-8 a year. Every year. But Larry David has barely gone on any interviews, despite being a major figure in the entertainment industry since the 80s when he was on SNL. So, compared to other celebrities, yes, this would count as 'rare'.
