I loved how Craig just didn’t give a damn about someone’s movie and his interviews just didn’t go anywhere. Magnificently bubble bursting.

Nah mate. He came across a total narcissist who was massively overcompensating for the fact he knows Larry David is a comic genius with more talent in his little finger than this pretender. Rule number one, play the straight guy when the funny guy comes on and don’t try to out funny him (especially when you’re not funny)
@Hankblue Жыл бұрын
@@dominicwhite2203 Or, hear me out.. he behaved the same way he does with every other guest, because he's not a pretentious sycophant?
@dominicwhite2203 Жыл бұрын
There is obviously a vast middle ground between pretentious sycophant and overbearing, attention-seeking, unfunny bore. It’s not one that Craig Ferguson occupied in any of his guest interviews, apparently.
@Sirrajj Жыл бұрын
@@dominicwhite2203 no i don't think he a narcissist type, Craig likes to play against the standards of usual tv show host troupes, he does that in every other episode, that's his style and he simply did that here too, i don't think suddenly becoming a "staight guy" when really funny guy comes like fallon & Kimmel do is much entertaining, it's much better if they play off each other like Ricky Gervais did with Craig but here Larry just did not take this positively & was visibly annoyed for this unusual banter which is pretty ironic cause in "curb.." Larry goes against the norm, has quirky personality & everyone's annoyed of him lol
@dominicwhite2203 Жыл бұрын
Thanks, I get that his default persona is to be iconoclastic and absurdist but he commits the cardinal sun, in my view, of just not being funny (nevermind authentic, hence the narcissism - if you look closely it’s all about him). So when you have a genuine comic genius like Larry David on he is exposed for being a third rater. Anyway, that’s enough overanalysis from me, it’s a matter of taste ultimately.

I don't know who this craig guy is but he's a bad interviewer. Tries to control the whole interview, doesn't give his guest room to breath. You could see any time Larry was going somewhere for a bit the other guy just interrupted him, talked over him with a pointless non-sequitur so obviously it went no where, but not Larry's fault.

@@HopUpOutDaBed Craig usually bounces back and forth with his guest in quite an entertaining way and you get the sense the guest enjoys it more than the 1000 other interviews they just did on their press tour for a particular movie/TV series/etc. In this case it came across more awkward and less entertaining though.

Craig is a smart guy. Hard to find a Scotsman who is not super smart and does not take any prisoners. He was not about to be the stool pigeon for Larry. But, it was an awkward interview and could see that Larry was off his game. Most people just cave to Larry and get all proud that he came on their show. Craig did not play that game sadly for Larry.
