I bought a Hilti PD-E . It has a integreated compass. It Shows the degree in vertical Modus. And in horizontal modus you can pic the short distens to the wall. This will be the 90°

You simply go by eye unless you need a more accurate measurement then hold a framing square at the rear surface and follow the 90deg straight

In Bosch GLM series it shows spirit level like bubble in screen..by using this function we can level 90 degree

So I see where it calculated the surface area of a wall that was elevated and not easily accessible. I assume it should be able to just do height or length as well. Can anyone confirm?

i'd love to have a tool to measure distance indirectly without having to point it at 90° afterwards.... it can be done with a distancemeter and a 6 DOF IMU knowing the angle between both measurements.....

john smythe it's not to save me from pressing buttons, it's that I need to measure pipes remotely, and all those laser distance meters need a perpendicular measure, and that's not always possible, and even if it is, if you don't have it perfectly perpendicular it affects it's accuracy a lot....

fair enough. I only ever use them for estimates. When it comes to installation tapes are far quicker and convenient and everyone has one. Our pipes only come in 6M lengths so tapes are more than adequate. Now that I think, measuring a section of pipe to be cut with a laser would be way more trouble than it's worth, possibly requiring 2 people

Hi, yes there is a small Red dot to indicate where you are aiming.
