Sam, the negative thing you may have hear about becoming a tree was probably to do specifically with tree urns used for cremated remains. Because cremation doesn't leave any organic matter 'you' are not really becoming a tree, it's purely symbolic. And fire based cremation isn't great for the environment. But if you go for natural burial I think you can find a natural burial plot that will plant a tree in you. And if you got for natural organic reduction aka human composting the dirt that becomes of your body can be used to plant a tree. Sadly, NOR is only legal in a handful of states at the moment. I really hope it's legal in my state when I die because I really want to become a cubic yard of soil. Unfortunately there is not a death care option in the US for feeding your body to animals, though if you do go for body farm there's a chance something will eat at least part of you. Also, Hank, there isn't a death care option for becoming a skeleton, which sucks because I would love to will my skull to someone.

A friend had a natural burial. This is simply the choice to be buried in an environmentally friendly, natural woodland setting rather than a traditional cemetery plot. The Natural Burial Woodland he used is situated at the top of Arnos Vale Cemetery adjacent to Arnos Park in Bristol. Burials must take place in coffins or shrouds made of sustainable biodegradable materials such as woven materials (bamboo, willow, seagrass, wool) and cardboard. You don't need to use a coffin; many people prefer to use a shroud.

Imagine a 3D printed pastry with the perfect amount of butter and filling and just flakiness layered throughout or latticed throughout. That is going to be the ultimate thing someday. It'll probably start out only in fancy restaurants, or maybe it'll go commercial right away who knows.

Retroreflectors are really cool. They're just prisms that are I think are perfect cubes, and the effect is that light shined into them shoots straight back along the path it came in on, no matter what direction the light came from. That means, if you look into a big enough one, you'll see a reflection of the center of whichever eyeball you are looking at it with, no matter how you move either the prism or your eyeball. I saw this when I looked into a spare Apollo retroreflector on display in the Visitor Center at the McDonald Observatory, in West Texas. This was back in the 90s, so I'm not sure if they still have it on display in the new Center I know they built. It was a freaky weird experience. Another fun retroreflector fact: little tiny cubes are used in paint to make the reflective kind used on road signs and the stuff they make reflective clothing out of.

I have aquamation (water cremation) in my Will that way my last act won't be putting CO2 in the atmosphere. Water Cremation with a weak acid will allow me to be drained into the water treatment system and my crushed bones can be given to my family and they can spread them in your yard.

a billon light year laser would take one billion years , times two to detect the spot on a distant planet and then the light to get back to us , however you would have to account for stellar drift and shoot it at where the planet is supposed to be by the time the light reached the destination , for us to see it travel back to us so even if we shot it at a confirmed object in the Promina centauri system , it would take 4 years to get there and another 4 years for us to see if we hit the object correctly
