AMLO probably did win in 2006. The computer counting the votes broke down that night, and INE refused to hold a recount. There are very credible mathematical analyses that indicate serious discrepancies. This is absolutely the opposite of MAGA people claiming a steal in this country. And there is a good chance Claudia Sheinbaum will order a review of the INE and the 2006 electoin.

The 2006 election wasn´t a loss was a theft, the difference between the 2 candidates was minor to .5%. The exit poles gave AMLO about 10% advantage over his oponent, in Mexico closing the votes the ballots begin to arrive to the offices of the electoral autority, in that time the INE, National Electoral Institute, independent organism of the goverment in charge of the elections, you can see the results in TV or via internet almost in real time during the night of the election when the data of the ballots is uploaded, that night he have the advantage but in late night to the morning the results change giving the results the other candidate won only by a few votes, about 0.5% of diference, AMLO ask to open the ballots and recount the votes: "vote by vote, ballot by ballot" "Voto por voto, casilla por casilla". In Mexico regular citizens are chosing by the initial of their last name to be election officials, counting the votes and later take it to the offices of the electoral autority, that´s the reason AMLO ask to recount the votes. But the autorities refuse to do that and later burn all the ballots erasing all the evidence of the theft of the election, that´s the reazon he don´t accept the results. Things were very different in that election to the one with Trump.

No he didn't, he promised to deal with crime and it has soared during his presidency. Poverty was not fixed just separated further by categories to make it more complicated to understand under the tax system. AMLO is just Mexican Donald Trump. Since he became president, Mexican civil liberties have also got worse, reporters are more afraid to do their job since he keeps using his power as president to intimidate the media. Cartels have become more involved in politics and more powerful thanks to him, he also continues to abuse his power to go after his political rivals. He also tried to remove the independent institution that verifies elections through false claims of "Corruption" but was ultimately rejected by the people. AMLO is no different than all the previous presidents that continue to steal from Mexico, he has done some good things like improve the public health sector as well as pass a kind of retirement fund for older people, the bad thing about it he didn't create any way to generate money to fund it so Mexico's debt continues to increase. Overall AMLO was slightly better than past presidents but only slightly, the only reason his party won again is because there are no better options, no one trusts the PRI, PAN or any other party. Im certain that in time his party will be equally as corrupt and destructive to Mexico as all the previous ones.
