The Late 298D was added in a recent War Thunder event and I have been 50/50 on wether or not to do a video on this guy. Well, I finally made up my mind and here it is! I actually had a lot of fun with this thing and it wasn't nearly as bad as I feared it may be. I hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching!

As a French main I know that French vehicles can use baguettes as fuel but prefer to use more common fuels.

There's also the B-26C, the F6F-5N and the SB2C-5, but these are U.S. planes used by France through the lend-lease program, not French planes. Apart from that, it comes down to the Latécoère 298D and the Marcel Bloch MB.175T (which also happens to be a fantastic bomber hunter), so . . . yeah, the Laté is *almost* France's best anti-ship plane - I believe the 175T is a tad better. Just a tad. 😄

And don't forget: it can carry 2 bombs or a torpedo (a similarly useless one like on that premium Fw 190 A-5, that couldn't even sink a frigate, but since it is the lightest 190 I had much better results with it in air RB, and 2 x 20mm 151s more than enough) so maybe when the french coastal tree comes out this thing will be useful for something. But I can already see that the US planes (again) in the French tree are going to be the "workhorses" for naval as well.

In Bo's video, Late298D best fighter of France! In real life, actual most sucessful plane in ground attack role for France during the battle for France. No, seriously, the french were so desperate in trying to stop the german tank columns that they went to the naval air station and just told the pilots to go inland and look for german tanks to attack; nevermind that the pilots only knew how to attack ships and were more proficient with topedoes than bombs, and also nevermind that they were not specifically trained to fly overland, or had any knowledge of how to spot ground targets in flying overland, or that they had to do with civilian road maps because the navy did not have maps for navigating aereally overground. Well, they went anyway and did a better job at close air support than any other french plane. So, better have a tank video using the Late 298D as it was historically: best french CAS plane!

Losing both "floaties" is the best thing that could happen to this plane since unlike the Arado it has fuel in the wings too. Maybe u could try to shoot each other's off. + there was a land based version of this with retractable gears, and a stronger engine. And yes even the maxed out gunners are: blind, drunk, handicapped, missing an arm, and stupid as shit, in this game, (unlike naval gunners).

Day 7 Transmission: Its been a week here in the wilderness of War Thunder. Tanks of all nationalities roam the battlefields. I have almost been caught by a number of Big German Cats. If only TBLF would open its storage garages and pull out their T26E4 Super Pershing’s. God, the fact that Gaijin calls it the T26E1-1, that’s historical inaccuracy at its finest.
