Finally had to leave a comment. Instead of sleeping today like an adult, I went down the rabbit hole. Bama and Brant videos all day. I'm parking my snowcat, getting out of Utah and heading back home. Flying into south Florida for peacocks and making my way north, hitting it all!! I've been gone to long. Thanks for all of the amazing content and motivation to leave the drift boat in storage for a few extra weeks/months and getting back to my old stomping grounds. Every time I watch another video is like a flashback. Thanks for keeping it real sir. TIGHT LINES!!

We were at the Perdido pass beach (Florida Point) on Wednesday the 7th and saw several people catching some nice pomps. One couple had 2 18 inchers and a 17inch,.. a young man had a couple that were 16 inchers. Also got to watch a guy go off of the jetti and spear fish some sheepshead out on the far rocks. I was bumbed I did not have any fishin rods, but I had a good time with my family. Can't wait to come back there when I can do some serious fishin and kayak fishin..after I fully recover from shoulder surgery.

Nothing beats a grilled whole Pompano over charcoal!! Score each side and rub the fish all over with Italian dressing, grill over a smoking hot fire!!! Now you have me on the hunt for a fish monger with pomp here in Illinois....I wish I was on Dauphin island right now!!

To continue: This works for us when trolling for soft-mouthed fish. Between the weight and the lure in this case. You should give it a try. Maybe a strong elastic band would do the trick with those heavy sinkers. Get one up on that smarty-pants Peacher!

Interesting thought on the heavier weight sinkers, catch 22 is right now pomps are running behind the bar so I need the 4 oz to reach em.

Fished the atlantic this week - I caught so many species! Out of like seven pompano only one keeper, the biggest whiting I've ever seen in person - a FAT 18" (released), and a sailcat that acted like a 4# pomp - can't tell you how annoyed I was when I saw that mast on his back. Still had a great time catching fish.

Great video. Talking with guys at Honeymoon Island near Clearwater, FL, on Tuesday we’re all ready for the pompano to show up. Trout and reds are still closed and the waste water being dumped into Tampa Bay is a concern. I managed to get one very short trout, one tiny whiting, two ladyfish, one hardhead, one lizard fish, and one pinfish 😎 - so zip for the table. But, it was a gorgeous day, I found that my salted clams and shrimp work well and I paired them with shrimp and sand flea fish bites.

That looked like a great place to fish, loved that ridge out to deeper water. It is hard sometimes to decide where to fish, wether to stay in Bama or run to Fla. That baby black tip in Florida would have been great, but in Bama 54”. Wish the 2 states would work together to set limits equally.

I am thinking if you used a rubber snubber (shock absorber) between the weight and the line, it would help. Lessens the strong jarring effect of the sinker grabbing the bottom.

Been watching you and Brant for the last week so I decided to buy a rod and do some surf fishing. I live in PCB. Caught my first Pompano last night at sunset. I was curious is it better to clean them immediately or wait until I get home. I am only about 5 minutes from the beach, but not sure if I should not keep them on ice for a long time before cleaning them.
