Thanks for stopping by! This Mass was a special occasion. Normally, we have the ordinary of the Mass in Latin (Gloria, Sanctus, etc.) and most of the rest in English. People seem to find that accessible, and they really enjoy our traditional choir pieces (chant, polyphonic works, classic hymns).

⁠@@st.markcatholicchurchhighl668The NO is still very deficient. The genuflections are missing. Every time you pass in front of the tabernacle you must kneel, no excuses. The problems with the Novus Ordo are not solved with Ad Orientam and Latin. The issues are beyond and I am really happy to see that people long for reverence and understand Latin is the Sacred Language of the church, but I pray that you celebrate the TLM and not a very questionable rite that has so much cloud. @@susierobles2532 Thank you for watching. I understand where you're coming from, but we will have to agree to disagree on the "deficiency" of the Mass of Paul VI. No, the rubrics are not the same as the TLM, but that doesn't make them wrong. For example, the Eastern rites are also different (no genuflections at all, as far as I'm aware), but nobody considers these rites deficient or disrespectful. It's not specific rubrics that determine the "rightness" of liturgical praxis, as a look at the history of the Roman rite will reveal.

Exactly!! The Novus Ordo was not a victim of the document, but of the 60s… ugly cars, buildings, clothes, cheezy folk music, etc… the world was just… lazy and cheezy. Unfortunately, laziness has kept a reverent NO from emerging many places. I attend a beautiful Novus Ordo at both Holy Rosary and Annunciation in Houston; it can be done easily!

Great insight. As soon as I got up to date with the changes made by V2 I’ve wondered why they make changes in the way they did. The Liturgy of the Word of course makes sense in the vernacular. But so many more parts of the liturgy of the Eucharist are better off without so many changes. In my opinion

Maybe if you understood why the Council was called you would understand why changes/updates were made. Thank God we have a Holy Father, Pope Francis who will not let these abuses continue and is tightening the reigns. I know there are people who can’t wait until our next Pontiff but consider this….over 90% of the cardinals who will be able to vote were elevated by Pope Francis…and…speculation is that the next Pontiff will again be from South America or an Asian country.

Those two kneelers should be in every Church , we allowed to stand OR KNEEL , but to kneel should be offered the kneelers especial for older generation , and shows reverence for the true presence of Jesus in the Eucharist

It’s happening here in Oklahoma just recently we now have 3 parishes offering the kneelers, one also still had communion rails so those that wish to kneel come up last and after priest has given communion to others who choose to stand then does those who wish to kneel, they just get in line last 👍🤩

This just proves that the mass never needed to change. WE need to change. There could have been TLM masses offered in the vernacular and the Latin for people who were whining about not understanding the Latin. What the church has needed is the intensity and the fervour of true religious devotion. Not the watering down and Protestantising of the faith.

This is what the council fathers intended! I think its great for propers to move since they are useful for the faithful to understand and learn about the saint or feast of the day and also having the reading just in the vernacular instead of going through it twice is a good improvement. The parts of the mass that don't change should be in Latin( In the Roman rite) so that it would connect us back with the history of Rome. I’m a Vatican II enjoyer and I want to emphasize that the council fathers knew what they were doing and were guided by the Holy Spirit in this process. Just read the documents for themselves. Here’s some excerpts “The use of the Latin language , with due respect to particular law, is to be preserved in the Latin rites” (sacrosanctum concilium no. 36) “nevertheless, care must be taken to ensure that the faithful may also be able to say or sing in Latin those parts of the ordinary of the Mass which pertain to them”(Sacrosanctum concilium , no. 54) “ in accordance with the age -old tradition of the Latin rite, the Latin language is to be retained by clerics in the divine office (Sacrosanctum concilium , No.101). I could also emphasize so many things about the Vatican II but the old way we are going to get out of this mess is by going back to the council fathers intentions NOT ignoring them. I just want to remind Catholics that this is a binding ecumenical council that was confirmed by the pope and too many of y’all are comfortable with just disregarding the power that Christ gave to the apostles in union with peter. I got confirmed in a Novus Ordo TLM mixed parish, almost 1 year ago - at 43. I can't say I would have a problem attending this Mass, the priest made the effort to make it reverent, no sign of peace (which I find disruptive), altar rails, no altar girls, no lay ministers of Eucharist, and he has the pronunciation of an American but with Latin that is very clear and loud. I am sure he also has published Confession hours, so the people can receive this vital sacrament. Pax et bonum, et in templum Deum semper almbularis.

Yes, but not as many people know it. In the Roman Rite, the prayer ends with "but deliver us from evil." Then there's a part from the priest ("Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil...). Then the people respond with, "For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever." When Roman Rite Catholics pray the Our Father outside of Mass (in the Rosary, etc.), we do not include it.

Thanks for asking. Yes, absolutely! This is the normative Mass-the various translations are based on it. A priest can celebrate the whole thing in Latin, or more realistically, start introducing parts of the Ordinary in Latin (Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus, Agnus Dei), while keeping the propers and readings in English (or whatever one's vernacular happens to be). This fulfills Vatican II's call for the people to be able to say or sing in Latin those parts that pertain to them.

Permission is needed for the so-called Traditional Latin Mass, which is the 1962 missal. Traditiones Custodes only impacts the celebration of the 1962 missal. Now, there may be some bishops who don't like that, just like there are some who restrict "ad orientem," but they are going beyond what the Pope laid out in TC.

Love it! As Francis tries to restrict the Holy Mass in its Tridentine form, we should be making the Novus Ordo more TLM-like. Thanks to the priest for being part of that movement. I think he could just slow down a little bit, he's going crazy fast; also (but that's common to Americans) he speaks quite loudly. He shouldn't just say the prayers in silence, but could he whisper? Would love to see a perfected version of this to show to my fellow Novus Ordo priests.
