The original Silent Hill 2 is my personal favorite horror game of all time, but compared to the remake, the acting in the original seems like they're in a Barney episode or something. 5:22 especially sounds really funny now.

James eye movements are purposely done so, as the game progresses his model grows dirtier and looks tired. I kinda like Laura's new design, the VO is not great though.

Laura is the only character I know I prefer the original appearance of, primarily because it fits her age more. But delivery in the remake is definitely better. To be honest, pretty much most of the acting in the remake is better than in the original which, objectively, wasn't good in the first place, and the only reason why it worked was because it ended up adding to the strangeness of the game somehow, but this really didn't disappear anywhere in the remake while the voice acting is better

Putting all nostalgia aside, I honestly prefer the new Laura. The acting and dialogue is so well-delivered. I think the new Laura's delivery is more realistic for her age. I've always felt that the OG Laura sounded more toddler-ish than her intended age, at times, which sometimes annoyed me. Though the new Laura can, at times, have the same issue sounding younger or older than her intended age, the delivery never made me feel like I'm dealing with a toddler or teenager, but a proper child.

i think laura is one of the best characters in the remake, she does look more organic now wich for a kid is important because they dont know a lot of things, in my opinion in this remake the worst is unfortunally angela, she is really bad in the cementey and apartments, the only part i like it from her is when she is in the stairs saying, would you love me, would you take care of me, that is when i like her interpretation but the rest a bit behind. eddie was good too and maria... well. maria doesnt win for me that much, i think who interpretate maria does a better job as mary, but it is just my opinion. ranking them i will say from worst to best angela maria eddie mary laura james

The dialogue and that she ran away instead of walking with James after he yelled at her is much more realistic, also the remake gives more personality and background to Laura's character as you can tell she didn't had parents or didn't had good relationship with them and that she was yelled a lot by people. You want to believe this remake is bad just because the nostalgia went over your head.

Silent Hill 2 is older than me and I didn’t play it until 2023. I don’t like the remake because it is made for modern audiences and I won’t buy it because Konami is an evil company. (P.T. was cancelled 10 years ago and bloobers’ first game was a P.T. clone) The original is an auteur masterpiece and the remake is a netflix adaptation made by poles.

There are things the OG did better, there are things the remake improved, the interactions of the characters are improved, and James feels more like a character in a psychological horror who trapped inside his own mind, like very deep inside he knows what he did just don't want to admit and accept it, which is the whole point of the game, rather than a confused man who lost his memories.
