Yeah I agree, I always liked Self Control, that's an obvious, famous classic, and her cover of Power of Love has always been a favorite (I always preferred it over Jennifer Rush's version). But only after I 'rediscovered' Self Control in my adulthood, did I truly realize the greatness that was Laura Branigan. Ti Amo for example, is a wonderful performance, as is Living a Lie. It's like her voice in these songs suddenly became better and different in my adulthood. It's like there was hidden magic all along in her voice and only with an adult mind could I really understand her quality. Unbelievable.

Wow, that was quite a live performance. So beautiful it made me shed a few tears. Man, I miss the 1980s. I realize this live performance was probably recorded in the 90s or maybe 2000s, because Laura looked a bit older here, but it's such a tragedy that she died that early. Not the best singer I've heard, but she was really a great talent and such a beautiful voice. @@ftjax I like the Jennifer Rush version too, great song, but Laura Branigan completely outperformed Jennifer Rush, just like she outperformed Raf with her cover of his Self Control. Laura Branigan is one of the 80s greats, and much like Pat Benatar and especially Robin Beck, underrated. Jennifer Rush has a very different voice and a great singer in her own right, but Rush was definitely not on par with Laura Branigan. By the way, if you like Jennifer Rush, check out her song Credo.
